I don't like Frank Miller. I don't really even like The Dark Knight Returns. Much. Yet Carrie Kelly has been my default icon for, like, ages. Wherefore then do I like her so much?

Actually, I'm not entirely sure. But what's NOT to like about her?

Haha yeah, definately. I saw a similar pair at Goodwill (a used clothing store) the other day and would have bought them, but the nose bridge thing was too large and they kept slipping down my face.

Wow, that was kind of... cool? Not terrible? Totally not what I would have expected?

I'm probably still not likely to pick up The Dark Knight Returns anytime soon, but I definitely think I may have gained a strange fondness for Carrie Kelly. And Bruce thinking about Dick while moaning and writhing made me giggle aww a little bit.

Yeah, I know - reading something like the Goddamn Batman series, written by Miller decades later, kind of makes me sad. I mean, there were moments of genuine *sweetness* in TDK, especially from Carrie and Gordon. Miller seems to have abandoned any pretense at sincerity, preferring his characters to be assholes. And whores.

I secretly hope that someday Carrie will become a part of mainstream continuity. A different writer, a more coherent take on her....it'd be lovely. I think she would be a cute Robin to Dick's Batman, even.

Haha, yeah, I'm not a fan of Miller's writing. I think Carrie's a great character though and deserves to be rescued and redeemed by a better writer.

Carrie sold me on the whole Batverse. But then, I'm a tiny redhead with glasses, a smart mouth, and a crush on the big man with the bat ears. *helpless shrug* What could I do? Other than dress up as her for Halloween and delight the guys at my LCS, naturally.

I never was able to get into the Dark Knight Returns. I borrowed it from the library and ended up just flipping through. And--I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but...she doesn't really look like a girl as Robin, does she?

Whichever. While she's only appeared once (I think), I'd have to say that the All-Star incarnation of Barbara Gordon isn't whorish. Then again, it's the Goddamned Batman series, so...minus eleventy million points for that. :\

I wish Nolan wasn't so adverse to introducing Robin. I understand perfectly why he doesn't want to touch Robin with a fifty-foot pole, but he's proved himself with reinventing the Batman mythos so far.
