Installment Seventy-Six
Previous Installments (In Reverse Order)It’s late at night. You’re back at Pierce’s house. It buzzes like an electronic cicada, thrumming with the resonance of Operator influence. There’s a twitching feeling in your stomach. It’s your connection to the fetus in Judy’s thumb. It feels the danger. You’re lucky that your ( Read more... )

Is it just me or are we sounding more sinister now. I would love it if it turns out that we are the villain, and in reality working for The Operators!

I wonder why, but it seems like the group mind is insanely risk averse. Most polls seem to come down to:

Hide and/or Run: 45%
Get more information, at moderate risk: 40%
Get more information, at serious risk: 8%
Do something crazy, social: 4%
Do something else crazy, physical: 3%

We need to collectively stop voting for the safe answer quite so often. The story is more interesting if we push him towards bold action. This isn't Call of Cthulu where Robin is going to say Game Over the first time we open the wrong door, I suspect.

Also, check out the wording: the message from the Angels tells our protagonist to do what the poll result was. I suspect something deeply meta about the identity of the Angels.

I don't think that's fair. When we are sane, this is probably true, but when we're off our meds we have been leaning towards nuttier, non-hiding actions.

Given that, I'm surprised at the super-wimpy overall responses this week -- Perhaps Team Crazy Guy isn't fully adjusted to our move to stop taking our meds.

(Well, the super-wimpy overall response, about hiding in the darkest corner. Hopefully if we end up grabbing that meat hook we'll do something fun with it. . . .)

What's the point of going off our meds and embracing the crazy if we don't *do* crazy things? Grab the meat hook, I say! In fact, that should be our new motto:

EMBRACE THE CRAZY !!!

We are neither Rambo nor Bruce Lee.
Our chances of killing a pudgy overweight guy with a meat hook held in our left hand are decentish. Our chance of taking down anyone fairly ept are less than that, without the element of surprise.

Also, Judy has indicated that ravening pools of blood don't necessarily convince her to leave the situation.
