A couple of houses in the neighborhood still have their Halloween decorations up. One with bat cutouts taped to the inside of the windows. Another with a fabric ghost and skeleton slowly weathering in the elements ( Read more... )

Because he's not crazy enough yet.

In my own defense, it's been too cold since CHristmas to take them down, and now I don't want to disturb the doves nesting in my front door.

It is traditional in England that if they have Xmas decorations still up then goblins will get in, spoil the food and break the plates, and they will only have themselves to blame.

I don't know of a Halloween equivalent. Perhaps Martha Stewart comes round and puts antimacassars on all the furniture and one of those Spanish dancer toilet roll covers in the loo (My nan had them but I can't find any on the web so this will have to do.)

I've heard of organizations like that, but they're usually called homeowners' associations.

The only holiday decoration Grace and I have ever put up, a life size glow in the dark skeleton which I put up a month before Halloween 2003, is still in our window. I just like the way it creeps out our Nosey Old Neighbor Lady.
