Instead of using an ordinary needle-like lancet in the finger to draw blood for the glucose meter, my doctor's office uses a lancet with a blade on the side of the finger. I assume they use this to ensure a good flow of blood, since the needle lancets don't always allow enough blood to well up. However, it always takes about 2 days for the pain ( Read more... )

I don't know if this'd work, but while you're thinking of it, call the office, and have them put that note in your file, not to draw blood from that finger. It might be even less painful, if they use the back of your hand!
