And then I read this comment, kicked myself hard for not even thinking about casting people of color for all of the Dresden Files, and spent the next two weeks feverishly picking and choosing which actor would work for which

Dude, Grace Park is TOTALLY why I started re-casting the entire series, even though I was already burned out from the first casting. She just fit Murphy so perfectly, and I had to cast everyone else after that!

How to chose because now some roles have two perfect people and I can't chose. I never thought that anyone would be better as Marcone than Donovan but Will Yun Lee? He could just be.

And from now on I'm totally ignoring everything the books say about Murphy because Grace is SO my Murphy. She's freaking perfect.

And Jurnee Smollett as Molly is bloody perfect. Just. Yeah. I love her as Jess in Friday Night Lights (she's totally my favourite out of the new class and the one I'm most rooting for) and she totally has the right attitude for the grasshopper.

And How does one chose between Idris Elba and JDM? Both of them would be AMAZING at playing Michael. And I'm also completely incapable of chosing between Christina Hendricks and Gina Torres because, DAMN.

The nice thing about these kinds of things is that they can BOTH exist in your head. I've been mixing and matching different actors for these characters for a long time, and whichever one works for you works for you, but you don't have to choose, you know?

But yeah, I'm kind of proud of Grace as Murphy because she's just so right for it in my head.

Much as I adore the man, what's Tahmoh Penikett's heritage? Visibly, I'd assume mixed Caucasian. Also, heavy bias toward east Asian? Did I see a Arabian face up there?

So far, all information about Tahmoh says that his mother was First Nations and his father was Caucasian, which is why I left him in as Morgan. Also Saïd Taghmaoui is Moroccan and Erick Avari is of Parsi descent.

I skewed heavily toward east Asian because a lot of what I watch has east Asian people in it, and I know I'm missing out on a lot of other amazing actors who could be playing these roles. It's why I love hearing other peoples' suggestions.

Also, I really wanted to do have more Latino/Latina actors in this. I am kicking myself for not doing that as well as I'd wanted to.

I didn't take it as offense, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'm saying things all wrong right now due to being stupidly exhausted.

And I only found that out about Tahmoh sometime last year after I watched Dollhouse and fell for him. Terrible show, but it left me with a need to see him on my TV at all times.

Anything with Grace Park is gonna be awesome, in my opinion (and maybe I'm a little biased, what with H50, but it's all good :))
