i have a problem

my computer and itunes have FAILED to detect my ipod. after much help from jerry and the applediscussionhelpdunnowhatthing i have come to the conclusion that my wire is spoilt. what should i do? should i buy a new wire or should i get one second hand? i may get a new mp3 next year, and its probably going to be another ipod. SIAN.
ipods are horrid.

Your ipod just isn't mounting, not even as a hdd/flash drive?
Have you checked to see if your USB ports are functioning properly?
You can do that by accessing hardware information from systeminfo.
Or perform a soft/hard reset on your ipod.

Whatever you do, don't get Creative. It's one thing that sucks even more than Ipod. Irivers are not bad, they have pretty good sound quality.

Borrow a friend's and test first, just to make sure it really is the problem with the wire.

For me, I buy creative because GO TEAM SINGAPORE and also it's very cheap when they're clearing stock or phasing out a product. Then I laugh at iPod users.

Yeah, look out for good deals during computer fairs, creative usually has a lot.
