my computer and itunes have FAILED to detect my ipod. after much help from jerry and the applediscussionhelpdunnowhatthing i have come to the conclusion that my wire is spoilt. what should i do? should i buy a new wire or should i get one second hand? i may get a new mp3 next year, and its probably going to be another ipod. SIAN.

Your ipod just isn't mounting, not even as a hdd/flash drive?
Have you checked to see if your USB ports are functioning properly?
You can do that by accessing hardware information from systeminfo.
Or perform a soft/hard reset on your ipod.

Whatever you do, don't get Creative. It's one thing that sucks even more than Ipod. Irivers are not bad, they have pretty good sound quality.

a chiku sign: cup hand together such that all fingers meet. hold hand in such a position that the point where the fingers meet is vertically above palm. align hand such that middle finger is facing the person or object which you intend to swear at or use profanity on. veer hand backward and forward.

What you should do now is update your Ipod and itunes firmware (assuming you're using itunes). This happened to me repeatedly for a period of time until I did an update and a hard reset.
