in the glorious haze of summer

For my sister's birthday (which was July 4th... lucky woman always gets fireworks!!), I bought her a book called 'Harry Potter Should Have Died' by Emerson Spartz and Ben Schoen of Mugglenet fame. (Yes, we are nerds.) But, it made me really nostalgic/excited, because a) I have seriously had a love affair with Harry Potter and b) the new movie is ( Read more... )

Hehe, okay. I want to get it back from my sister to read it more, actually. Lol. I am a bad gift giver like that!

But, I did get to scan it before I gave it to her, and mostly I discovered that the book is formatted into lots of little debates. Emerson wrote one side and Ben wrote the other, and then at the end there is a little paragraph in italics that's called 'verdict,' in which they decide which side 'won.' One of the little debates inside the book was 'Harry Potter Should Have Died,' but there was also, 'Is Voldemort the most evil villain of all time?' (for which the verdict was yes... which i disagree with...) and some silly ones like, 'Would you rather make out with Voldemort or a Dementor?'

It was fun to read as an HP dork, hehe, because I totally wanted to add my own opinions to the debate. I found myself disagreeing with a few of the verdicts, but that was okay because it was more fun that way!! I would definitely recommend it to any HP fan. :]

OMG! You must come! I know for sure that Angelo, Derek and I (and hopefully others!) are going to either the 12:01 or the 12:10 showing at RIverside. I was going to buy tickets this week but I need to confirm which showing with Angelo...

Brillaint pictures! I must not tell lies...

Oh! Harry Potter. That's our "thing". When you come to Europe (remember you said you were to visit Norway) we shall have a deep discussing regarding Tom Felton's latest performance. God I hope he has improved.

Oh I am definitely coming to visit Norway!!! I can't wait. And it's so true... Harry Potter IS our "thing." I'm so excited to have a reason to be bringing it up. I mean, I don't really need a reason... but the movie coming out is a good excuse for a huge Harry Potter party. :] I wish we could see a movie together, though. Maybe when the seventh one comes out or something? The first half, I mean. Hahaha. That would be so fun!

As to Tom Felton... I love the kid, but REALLY?! Movie five was just depressing. I wish they wouldn't make him seem so cowardly. Even though he is... but I feel like the Draco in the books was at least a well-rounded person. Bad, yet well-rounded. Movie!Draco is just... flat. :[ Not really all Tom Felton's fault... a great deal is the director. Like that scene in Movie 3 when Hermione punches him? He's practically crying. I do not approve.

Good! Yes we should!

Yes. We agree on this. The pure genius of Book!Draco is that he is such a round character. He's real. He turns his cape after which way the wind is blowing or whatever it's called, which is quite normal, rather than saving the world - which people don't really do alot :P Plus Movie!Draco looks like a Hitlerjugend.

YES! SERIOUSLY! He is supposed to be the product of his parents, who followed Voldemort when he was in control and then abandoned him when he lost power.... and then followed him again. Draco is like them. But he isn't pure evil. He's still an adolescent boy. And the scene when he's trying to kill Dumbledore... in the book, he hesitates, and he begins to lower his wand. He clearly has issues trying to accept whatever role is forced on him by the Death Eaters. The movies portray none of that. They just make him pathetic. :[
