It's an electric gym, so I should use...
As he stood in front of the gym doors, he went over a few battle strategies in his mind before he finally pulled the door open. As he stepped in, calling out a "Hello?" before he stopped to look around curiously at the layout of the gym, from the electric fence to the numerous trashcans...although he found himself vaguely wondering why there were so many trashcans around more than wondering about the electric fence in relation to the "puzzle" that the gym here seemed to have...

"Well, kid?" The lieutenant called out. "Aren't you gonna try to find out how to get to me?" And of course, if, and only if Wally made eye contact with any of the other trainers here, he would be able to battle them. They would also be willing to give hints in return if Wally met with victory.

Yeah, he needed to focus on the battles ahead, and it didn't take him very long to have made eye contact with one of the gym trainers standing by the trash cans. After the battle, as he had Gardevoir using it's Psychic and Shadow Ball attacks on the man's Electrode, the juggler gave a hint that the trash cans were somehow involved in getting the electric fence to turn off to get to the Leader.
The trash cans...? Wally walked over to the one closest to him and looked around it. Is the switch under it or...in it?Wally looked down into the trash, looking just a little paler. He would have to dig through trash to find the switch to turn the electric fence off? Maybe he should be wearing gloves for something like that, but the trash in the can didn't seem to be anything too disgusting or suspicious-looking, not to mention that he found it unlikely that the Gym Leader would really make someone dig ( ... )

"So he's got a Gardevoir, huh? We rarely see those things," he commented to his little electric buddy, whose respond was nothing more than a nod and a 'chu'. Surge then proceeded to fold his arms, an action that Raichu, as usual, mimicked. His eyes were kept peeled.
Wally seemed to get the picture. It was just a matter of letting him figure it all out. He smirked.
"He's doing it a little faster than most challengers. He might just be good!" With a Pokemon like a psychic-type, he expected him to actually be a bit of a challenge. Not that it would keep Surge from throwing hot talk at him or anything.
He was anticipating this fight. He continued to watch, wondering if the boy would get it. The other gym trainers were standing and waiting to the sides.
