Muriel hadn't been able to find out much from any of her contacts. It seemed the Minsitry were actually doing all they could, and there were rumours that the Minister had gotten involved personally to make sure of it. She'd been able to discover that, off the record, they thought it was a vandal, but they didn't have enough conclusive evidence to say so publicly yet.

When she arrived home, there was another letter waiting on the table. Muriel felt her skin prickle as she opened it, and dropped into the kitchen chair as she read.

Oh, George.She closed her eyes and remembered the wallpaper in her bedroom at the Beamish manor. She remembered days spent wallowing in the sheets and potions bottles littering the dresser. She remembered crying into the pillow, crying in the hallway, crying in the bath. Composing herself and going to take tea in the sitting room, then screaming and tossing teacups at house elves because they'd let it go lukewarm ( ... )
