Date: Sunday, September 1, 1999 Characters: Wayne Hopkins, Others Location: Three Broomsticks Status: Public Summary: Another cooking lesson Completion: Incomplete
The beach party had been a lot of fun, even if Eloise felt a little strange for most of the time. Being there on a date was one thing, but being there with Ron Weasley on a date was something else entirely. They'd had fun together, which was always a good thing for a date. At least, she'd had fun.
She told Wayne she would be at the cooking class today, so she made a point to show up a bit early to get a chance to chat with him. She spoke with him for a minute at the party, but by the time they connected it had been pretty late.
Heading into the Three Broomsticks, she spotted Wayne popping a bit of pineapple in his mouth and laughed. "Starting early?"
He looked up as Eloise entered the kitchen. "Nah, just testing the ingredients. Have to make sure they're the best quality for my students and all."
"Did you have fun last night?" he asked as he leaned his hip against the counter. They'd had a chance to talk briefly, but he didn't know if she'd stayed much longer after that or not.
She smiled and ducked her head. "Yeah. It was perfect weather and the water was amazing." Eloise had been spared the inevitable teasing from Wayne last night, but wasn't sure how long that would last now. Hopefully, he wouldn't have thought much of her being there with Ron; they were friends after all.
"Yeah. Was a good day for it and all. Nice beach, too. Was a good crowd there," he said. He nodded. "It was fun. Glad I took the time off to go, really. Would have hated missing a chance to enjoy the water. Can't do that too often, taking off work and all, so I'm glad Rosie let me yesterday."
"Planning to teach you how to make pizza tonight. Got a few reservations for the class, so there'll be people here, at least. Not sure how many, but it should be a good class."
Alicia grinned as she stepped through the door. The advert had said to just stop by, but she really had meant to owl to tell Wayne she was going to make it. She hoped it really hadn't been needed; she'd been looking forward to this since he'd held the last one. Certainly she could do with the help, that was for certain. And Wayne was definitely a good teacher.
At least she was a bit early; maybe they'd even have a chance to chat.
It looked like she wasn't the first to make it, so she smiled as she walked further into the room and waved.
When Alicia walked into the kitchen, Wayne smiled. "Nice to see you here. Yeah, the kitchen smells like dinner for the pub. We'll be working around that, of course. Can't really close down the pub for my classes and all."
"How have you been? Think I saw you at the beach yesterday but didn't get a chance to say hi," he said.
"Good food's good food. Hardly think anyone's going to mind," Alicia said, smiling.
"Can't wait to see what you're going to teach us today," she set her bag down and walked closer. "Sure you're up to the task?" she teased. "You already know I'm a bit of a disaster in the kitchen."
"And yeah," Al smiled. "I'm sorry I missed you yesterday as well. I've been good, really, and the beach was a lovely break. Glad you could make it too. Did you have fun?"
"Gonna teach you how to make pizza. Pretty simple dish that can be changed each time due to toppings, so you can use it more often and have something new every time," he said. He laughed. "Yeah, I'm up to the task. Even if you burn it, pizza can be bloody good, so no worries there."
He nodded. "Yeah, didn't think I'd be able to, but I've had to miss so many things lately due to my schedule that I just got off early so I could go. It was fun swimming and all. Glad you had a good time, too."
When Anthony arrived at the cooking lesson, there were only three people there so far: Wayne, Eloise, and a girl he only vaguely recognised. He smiled as he approached the table where Wayne had all sorts of meat and veg and cheese set out.
"Looks good," he said, "I've been looking forward to this."
Wayne noticed Anthony enter the kitchen and glanced at the clock. It was still early, so he wasn't worried about people not showing up. The ones who reserved their place had already paid, after all. Still, he was glad that some people had arrived early. He wasn't so nervous knowing there'd be a few students, at least.
"Yeah? Well, hopefully it won't disappoint," he said when Anthony approached him. "Think it should be fun, really. One of my favorite things to make, and already have a few friends here, which is always good." He shrugged a shoulder. "So, you survived the beach party, I see."
Anthony nodded. "Survived it, yes. Had a bit of a hangover this morning, but I think I'll survive. Naps and long showers do wonders, along with lots of Pepper-Up." He gave a rueful little chuckle. He wasn't used to drinking much, and definitely wasn't used to being hung over. He didn't even particularly remember going to bed the night before.
"Hiya, Wayne!" Mandy called out, bouncing into the kitchen. "Sorry I'm late. There's still time for me to join in, I hope." She grinned. She was in a great mood. She'd had a wonderful time the day before at Lisa's beach party and now she was doing a little cooking and further enjoying her weekend off.
