Greg walked down the street, carrying a bag of apples. He didn't always do the shopping, but he'd really wanted apples for some reason, and so he'd gone to MacDonald's to pick some up. He hadn't wanted to spend the whole day at home, and he'd told himself that it wasn't because the seventh years were in town today.
His boots sank a little into the dirt. It had been foggy and drizzly this latter half of the week, but it felt a little better than the biting cold and ice they'd had off and on all winter. He'd walk along for a while, maybe pop into a shop if anything caught his eye.
Something did. Someone. He saw Luna walking and holding a paper at her side. It took less than a second to decide to head over. "Luna," he said, meeting her in the middle of the road. "Hey.
Luna had almost reached the rubbish bin when she noticed Greg heading over to her. She turned and threw the paper away before he met her, a big grin on her face. "Hi, Greg!" she said, hugging him immediately and kissing his cheek, trying to be mindful of his bag. She had hoped she would see her friends but had tried not to hope it would be Greg, so that she wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't happen. She was happy that that precaution had been unnecessary. "What are you up to? Get tired of revising?"
Luna reached up and hugged him, right in the middle of the street -- kissed his cheek, even. Greg swallowed and returned her hug, letting his own lips graze her cheek on the way back, and taking a moment to find her fingers and squeeze them as he straightened up. It had just felt natural to do. "Hey," he said again. "'M just out buying a few things. Got some apples." He held up his bag.
"Oh, lovely," she said, looking at the apples and grasping his hand back. "Are you heading somewhere? I was just wandering so I can walk you, if you want."
"Daddy just left- we had lunch together. And then I was reading that editorial in the Prophet, which I don't usually read, but I heard a lot of people talking about it. Did you get a chance to read it?" she asked curiously. She wondered what kind of opinion Greg would have, if he'd gotten the chance to read it. Otherwise, she could fill him in.
