Draco sighed and handed the envelopes over to the auror. Each of them was unsealed, so that they could be checked, and they were very similar. They read as followed:

Msr. Harry Potter,
I hope I didn't misunderstand your intention, Tuesday last. As such, I humbly request wish to extend my invitation for you to stand as a witness at my hearing next Monday, at 4pm, at the Ministry of Magic.

Mlle. Hermione Granger,
If you are still willing, I would be grateful appreciate your presence at my hearing next Monday, at 4pm, at the Ministry of Magic. I also understand that, being closer to Potter, you might be able to hold some sway over his decisions; I beg you to hope you can convince him to attend.

Luna,
I know it must be a surprise to hear from me. I've included a new comb for you; this one used to belong to my a relative of mine, and I don't think anyone will miss it. I thought you might enjoy identifying the creature defined in mother of pearl on the handle.
My hearing is coming up on Monday, and I fear that without proper witnesses, I may be sent to Azkaban like my father. I do not think there is anyone more qualified as a witness to my conduct during the last year as you, and if it isn't too much trouble, I would truly appreciate your defence before the Wizengamot.
Yours,
Draco Abraxas Malfoy
P.S. I forgot to tell you, the hearing is at 4pm.

Draco made his way back out into the garden and sank down, watching the sun setting. Everything was painted crisp and orange; beautiful. Bats had emerged from the eaves and taken to the sky, flitting back and forth above his head. The faint smell of crisp country air filled his nostrils, and he tilted his head back, not caring that he was probably getting grass-stains all over his beige robes. It was just...too nice. The elves would get the stains out anyway.
Above him, three eagle owls took flight silently. Draco watched them disappear over the trees and sighed. Well...it was too late to undo it now.
