After sending the owl back to the Ministry, Narcissa set off to find Draco and tell him the date for Lucius' trial. He was nowhere in the house, so she asked the Auror at the back door if he had seen him. The man merely jerked his head toward the garden, with an air of having much better things to do with his time than play nursemaid for the two of them. Narcissa thanked him anyway, and stepped outside into the gloaming.

She soon found her son sitting on the lawn and walked up to him. "Hello, sweetheart," she said as she approached.

Draco looked up but didn't rise, his eyes returning to the sunset almost instantaneously. "It's a beautiful evening," he told her, unsmilingly, as though he did not really feel it. This time next week he could be in Azkaban...or worse. What would this Ministry do to those people who had been on the wrong side? There was really no way to know. So many of them were dead already, and that much spoke unpleasantly for them both.

Narcissa frowned at her son's mood and sat down next to him, carefully arranging her robes around her legs. "I have some good news," she offered, hoping that would cheer him up. She hated to see him sad, and it seemed to her that he'd been so for a long time now. She reached out to gently rub his back.

Draco turned, slowly, looking back towards his mother, and reached out to place his hand on Narcissa's knee. "Good news. It's been a long time." He forced a smile onto his face that did not reach his eyes, and looked directly at his mother. She looked so unhappy...strained, as though life was simply too difficult. "Tell me about it."

Mr. Malfoy,

The hearing is already scheduled? I'll be there Monday for the hearing. I said I would be available in case I was needed, after all.

As for Harry, he doesn't need me to convince him. He'll keep his word.

Mr. Malfoy,

You didn't misunderstand me, of course. I'll be at there at 4pm on Monday.

Dear Draco,

Thank you very much for the comb! It is beautiful. You have once again drawn my attention to the state of my appearance- something you'd most likely consider horrendous these days.

I will, of course, use the comb, and maybe even ask Mrs. Weasley to trim up my hair before the hearing. I'm sure you'd appreciate my looking presentable before pleading your case.

I apologize for the delay in response, it took me some hours of searching in the forest to find Arviragus, the family owl, to deliver this to you. But rest assured, I will see you tomorrow at 4 pm. I do hope you aren't sent to Azkaban.

It was nice to hear from you,
Luna
