"I'm sure she won't mind," Hestia said, relieved to leave the party. "There are so many other people there for her to celebrate with."

Hestia let Percy guide her out of the alleyway, recognizing the coffee shop they'd visited the last time they were in London. She smiled up at him. "That's a brilliant plan, Perce. Maybe we can get some hot chocolate or something and then head to the park? Cast some warming and cushioning charms before there are too many Muggles around?"

"Yes. She'll likely forget until she sees me next, and then be horribly annoying," Percy said, only somewhat fondly. He sort of missed the time he'd spent at George's flat when he was afraid to leave George alone- not that he was alone, really- getting to know his friends and Angelina. But almost everyone had moved out and Percy felt like that meant it was a good time to stop suffocating George.

"Sounds perfect," he said, rejoining the conversation with a small smile. He didn't have to look down to address her tonight, he realized again. He walked the few steps to the front of the coffee shop, glad that he had started to carry a bit of Muggle money with him. He opened the door for her. "After you."

"Well, I'm sure if you act very guilty and buy her something shiny and sparkly, she'll get over it soon enough," Hestia suggested.

Hestia walked into the coffee shop. It seemed like a few people'd had the same idea as them; purchasing nice warm beverages before heading out into the cold to watch the fireworks. She felt sorry for the Muggles, knowing they didn't have the benefit of warming charms, but the ones in the coffee shop had bundled themselves up, so hopefully they would be alright. Hestia walked to the counter and ordered two hot chocolates, rummaging in her purse for some Muggle money.

"There's an idea," Percy nodded.

Percy managed to find the correct amount of money to pay for the drinks before Hestia did, and he was quite pleased with himself. He handed her one of the cups. "Should we duck back into the alley to do our charms first?" he asked quietly as she passed through the door he held open for her. "Maybe we can conjure some cushions or something, so we don't look terribly suspicious. Just a bit weird instead, for carting cushions around."

She giggled at him. At him, not with him. He sighed, but smiled. At least he could make her laugh. That was always a good sign.

Percy gave her words some thought, thinking they were important enough to mull over for a moment before answering. "That's one way of looking at it, I suppose." It actually made him feel a little uncomfortable, he realized. Was he just fulfilling obligations to himself? Is that what he'd been doing the last several years? He frowned a bit.

"So, what is it that you'd like to do this year? Maybe we can talk in daydreams instead of resolutions," he said, finally.

"All theoretical? Well I'd love to take that holiday to the beach. Stand up for myself a bit more. Figure out something to do for the kids at the hospital. The ones who've got no family left, or the family they have don't want them. Something that'll make them feel loved." Hestia shrugged and looked at Percy. "It's all daydreams, like you said. What about you, Perce?"

"Those don't sound like unattainable daydreams," Percy said, thinking it over. They sounded like lovely goals to have, really, and he found himself admiring her for them.

"Well," he pursed his lips. "I'd like to spend a lot more time with my family. I'm still working on making sure Mrs. Tonks is happy she gave me a second chance and hired me. And, er, a few weeks ago I'd been thinking I'd try to be more social, but I'm getting a head start on that already, I think."

"Yeah, well I can be really lazy sometimes," Hestia said, "yours don't sound much like daydreams, either. I mean you're already doing them. But you reminded me of something I really need to do. I need to go visit Mrs. Tonks and little Teddy. I keep putting it off because I'm nervous, but I shouldn't. They're all that are left of Dora, other than the memories. And I know Dora would have wanted me to help look after Teddy," she said quietly. "I feel like I'm letting her down."
