Ginny sat at the small vanity in her bedroom at the Burrow and listened to the murmuring of her parents' conversation in the rooms below. They were excited about tonight, too, she knew. It wasn't just a night for young love, but a night for people like her parents to celebrate having made it through. Together.
She stood, wanting to adjust the folds in her robes but afraid her sweaty palms would leave a stain. Instead, she turned once before the mirror, checking to see that the clasps were done and the fit was right. Despite having coveted some of the dresses she'd seen at school this week, she was so glad she'd decided to go with dress robes instead of a Muggle gown. It seemed like an opportunity to be traditional, to honor family ties - and she cherished the pale silk green robes her mum had given her for her birthday.
Absently, she speculated what Neville's reaction would be when he saw her, and blushed for the empty room. His owl last night had her even more giddy that she'd been before. Which was saying something. It was to be a special night for them, she knew.
With a wave of her wand, she rid the robes of the remaning few wrinkles she'd made when she sat, took a deep breath, and headed downstairs to get a final opinion about her appearance from her parents before Neville arrived.
