Daphne Greengrass had hardly had a moment to herself in the last two weeks. Mornings were spent at Hogwarts in lessons, afternoons at her Ministry internship, and evenings revising and working on assignments or running errands in Diagon Alley. And, of course, weekends were spent working at Slug & Jiggers. Her busy schedule had hardly left her time to talk to Sasha and ever since
Daphne had told Sasha about her plan to move out, Sasha had been stand-offish and they hadn't had a good talk in a long time.
After hearing from her parents earlier in the summer, Daphne knew they would be returning home soon, but she did not want to return to her childhood home, even if the comfort of her parents were there. Daphne knew now what she must do. She had to move out on her own, stake her claim in this new post-war world, work out what it was she would do, not what her parents wanted her to. Broughton Greengrass had always been a source of inspiration, but after the disappointment Daphne had experienced when she discovered her parents had fled to and remained in Prague at the end of the War, Daphne didn't know how much she could rely on him anymore. Daphne had been crushed by the sense of abandonment she had felt, but she knew that, in the end, it had already made her stronger and she would become stronger still as she moved out into the world on her own.
Now she had to deal with the fact that her brother was relying on her to keep him safe. Her world had been turned upside down and the person she had always looked up to was now completely dependent on her own situation. She heard back from Mr. Clarke the day before via owl post that he would be happy to have her rent a flat at his building in Hogsmeade and Daphne was eager to move. However, she still hadn't confronted Sasha since the night she had stormed off in a huff when Daphne broke the news.
Having finished her shift at Slug & Jiggers, Daphne was exhausted from being on her feet all day and tired of talking, but she knew that she had to have a discussion with Sasha. When she returned home, peace offering of take-out in hand, Daphne called out and prepared her head for the coming interaction. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she also knew she had to be as honest as possible. Barring, of course, the fact that she was mostly moving because of her brother. Jules had always been important to her, but Daphne didn't want to put Sasha in an awkward position. It wasn't that she couldn't trust her - Daphne trusted Sasha more than anyone in her life - but she also knew it wouldn't be fair to tell her more than she needed to know.
Daphne set the take-out on the table and readied herself for the heavy discussion to follow.
