Stephen had taken two doses of his nausea potion before he and Cho left for Glasgow. He, of course, hadn't told her as much. No need to make her worry about him, and he knew was going to be fine--at least that's what he kept telling himself. He was only meeting her family; it wasn't the most difficult thing he could do. And yet, taking down a violent criminal seemed less nerve-wracking at the moment.

Cho had given Stephen all the names of her family members, and he had already committed them to memory, but what if he saw them and completely froze? What if he got sick? He inhaled slowly. Focus.

He looked down at her, and she smiled up at him. She asked if he was ready to meet her family. No, he thought. But he knew he'd do anything for her. "Sure. It has to be better than the night you met my family," he said and he tried to smile.

She leaned against Stephen's arm when he mentioned his own family. “I think that went pretty well though and I really appreciate you coming with me tonight. This one won’t be so formal.” She explained, “We always try to have dinner together right before the holidays since my brothers now need time with their own families and in-laws. We will all come over on Christmas Day to exchange presents but tonight’s dinner is just our way of spending time together before everything gets so rushed ( ... )

Cho paused on the doorstep, and Stephen thought her face relaxed even more. He remembered that feeling, that emotional pleasure of going home. Of course, he hadn’t felt that way since before the War, and he doubted the true feeling of that would ever return ( ... )

She thought the introductions to her parents had gone well. Cho had been nervous when she met Stephen’s parents and knew it had to be the same for him, if not worse. His manners were impeccable but she sensed he was feeling uncomfortable.

She led him over to meet her brothers who were grinning far too much for her liking. Both took turns engulfing her in bear hugs as Lee asked, “How’s our little sister tonight?” Lam chuckled, “She’s practically glowing, Lee. I’m sure it’s because she’s so happy to see her brothers.” She swatted both before smoothing her hair back in place as she pleaded, “Behave yourselves, please ( ... )
