[out and about: open]

When Tina checked her messages, she felt her pulse start to race before she'd even finished processing why. There were two marked official correspondence from high-ranking Starfleet officers. It had to be about her reassignment. Big deal. Big, big deal. This was going to be a huge influence on what she'd be doing with herself for the next several years, and she was suddenly hesitant to learn her fate. Like not reading the words would keep it from happening.

"Woman up, Chapel," she muttered to herself. She clicked open the first message, almost holding her breath as she read it.

Starbase 69. A space station facility, focusing on research, brand new - still under construction! - where she'd be Head Nurse. And it was located near a spatial anomaly that might give some insight into how people were appearing from other universes, specifically so that that phenomenon could be studied. Her breath, when she released it, was accompanied by a little squeeing sound. If she couldn't stay with the flagship, this was... Perfect.

She hugged her belly. "We're going to be okay, little fish."

Grinning, she read the second message. She wasn't smiling any less when she'd finished it.

Gosh, she had to tell someone. Who? Anyone. Everyone. Her parents, for example, and she should write back to Commodore Otrona. And to Captain Kirk, and Doctor McCoy, personally, though she saw that they'd been cc'd on the communication from Starfleet, as her commanding officers.

But she felt too giddy to compose formal messages right away.

She decided to go for a walk, despite the heat, and let it all percolate through her mind before she tried to write about it. But she gave herself permission to babble about her new assignment to anyone she happened to meet while she was out.

shore leave is so awesome, angsting for two, what do you mean workaholic?
