It seemed to rain steadily, though lightly, all night. Danka and I were up at dawn and walked out to the runway again. And we were surprised - even shocked. The water level had dropped almost two inches overnight. Great swaths of the center were no longer underwater. Apparently the saturation-level of the ground had dropped. I was up before dawn and walking to the airport, where I found the HS Principal Louis and a truckload of boys already taking their first break, after bailing buckets since 4 am.
