The BBC series of Merlin is fantastic mainly because they decided to make Arthur a character. Bradley James is ridiculously good at being endearing and still being a jackhole at the same time. You understand why Merlin is so loyal to him and you understand why Gwen is going to fall for him. He's spoiled and bratty, but he's also deeply honorable and noble and human.

Have you seen North & South? If you like P&P, N&S is like it only with a poverty stricken setting. It's amazingly good.

Bleh - North and South - yeah I love, love, LOVE the books - LOATHE the TV mini-series, they altered way too much at it's core for me to like it. I love all of John Jakes books, he's another of my favorite authors.

I'll get around to watching MERLIN - again though - I have very high standards for the story, example: I loathe EXCALIBER. If Arthur is too bratty or I just don't 'get' a connection it won't grab me.

I really want the Mary Stewart books to be brought to screen. They're the best Merlin books ever made because he's very human in them, a lot of the mystique around him is created by people retelling stories, not by him really doing anything other than having second sight and learning science. You know, people who read, they must be magical right? LOL!

Naw, different North & South. Based on the book by Elizabeth Gaskell. Had Richard Armitage in it. SO GOOD.

Arthur is spoiled, but he's a sweet guy and one of my favorite television characters in like forever. You want to hate him, but you can't as he's so frikkin' good hearted under it all. Merlin is the driving force of the show though and Colin Morgan is excellent as a sweet guy who has a destiny and screws up ROYALLY sometimes, but eventually makes things work (not always how he wants).

I liked That Wicked Day mainly because I'm a bit of a Mordred fan. For some reason I'm I lover of guys who just can't fight their destiny. Never did feel the whole Morgan le Fey/Morguase/Mordred part of the legend felt quite RIGHT as he didn't have a ton of motivation.

Humm I haven't heard of that book then maybe I'll have to check it out...you know whenever I actually make it through all 11 of of the Sword of Truth books :)~

Yeah I don't like Morgause/Morgan/Mordred much either because the baddies are usually written to be very 1 dimensional "out to get Arthur."

I loved Mordred in The Wicked Day - it's why I hate most retellings of the story where he's always given zero growth and just made out to be the bad guy.

Awwww, you are also a Pride and Prejudice fan? No away ! :)

So, now we have 2 couples in common. Did you already watched "Lost in Austen"? Is very good too. :)

Actually I'm re-reading the book right now. :)

You should really check out at least the last three SOT novels. It is like a trilogy and full of good R/K angst. I don't want to give the main premise away (unless you ask), but suffice to say I was ready to give up on the series...Terry is way long winded sometimes...but these three renewed it for me. If ever I re-read the entire series I will for sure skip some of the books (Pillars of Creation comes to mind).

My sister actually did give up on the books, I gave her the last three and she is really liking them. She hasn't even read all the ones before, but she isn't too lost.

Eh I'm going to slog my way through all of them. I probably will need to wait to pick up Confessor - otherwise I'll probably be tempted to skip to the end to see how it all ends :)~

All these couples are amazing :) I don´t watch Smallvile anymore, but I think it´s high time Clark and Lois got together. Don´t tell me he´s still obsessed with Lana! That´s just bad writing, seriously.

I LOVE the King Arthur with Clive Owen. A lot of people were bashing it for various reasons, but it´s definitely one of my favorite films.
I have Mists of Avalon on a DVD, haven´t seen it yet. I must set it right :D

Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Darcy ... Pride and Prejudice is also my favorites, I think the 1995 Pride & Prejudice miniseries is the best Jane Austen film adaptation to date.

Anakin/Padme ... they´re just epic. I tried hard not to fall in love with them, because ... well, we all knew how it was going to end. They broke my heart anyway.

Richard/Kahlan are just the best, and quickly climbing my personal TOP 10 list :) I have no doubt that before the season is over, they´ll be my number one. This month-long waiting for 1x08 is seriously kiiling me.
