As many of my readers know, I've been struggling with my dearly beloved but also insanely complicated and demanding standalone YA novel, Touching Indigo, for two years now.

( A brief history of my attempt to write this book )

I dashed downtown to my beloved indie children's bookseller to pick up my special order this morning, and am now the proud owner of:

• Dull Boy by Sarah Cross (sarahcross), which I have already read and adored and had to own;
  
• The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan (sarahtales), which I have been dying to read for over a year now, and am saving up to reward myself ( Read more... )

And also maprilynne's WingsMy son will be much offended if I read the former without him, so I must contain my mad curiosity for now. So I asked my agent for a deadline on when he'd like to see a completed draft of Touching Indigo, and he said January 5th.

Well, I know what I'll be doing for the next six weeks then...

I have been working on the same scene in Chapter Eight of Touching Indigo since... well, since I wrote this Teaser Tuesday post back in mid-November. And after a great deal of writing and deleting and rearranging and writing some more and deleting some more, I am only a little further ahead than I was then.
