Goodbye 2009, hello 2010

2009 has been a really tough year, and I think many of us are glad to see the end of it. However, I will always hold a warm spot in my heart for 2009 nonetheless, because it's the year I Finally Got Published.

When I wrote the first draft of Knife back in 1993 I had no idea if it would ever amount to anything. I only knew that I loved the ( Read more... )

I just did a retrospective post, and I was amused (and touched) to see that you and I were put against one another in a Harry Potter BNF Deathmatch in December 2003. I remember that I had no idea who you were, but I went and read your Maude Moody fanfics and really enjoyed them, and I never forgot your name...since I lost to you in the Deathmatch. (Woe! Deservedly so, but WOE.)

And, years later, I dared to send an email to a fellow Harry Potter author turned pro. Funny how life works out, isn't it? (And by that, what I really mean is, "God really knows what He is doing, and I feel incredibly lucky.")

*hugs* I'm so glad the world finally got to meet Knife and Paul in 2009! Happy New Year!

I remember that! I was petrified of losing to you, because I'd seen your name around and knew you had quite a few fans. And now the whole HP Deathmatch thing seems so silly, doesn't it? :D Especially since I lost on the next round anyway (though I can't remember to whom...).

Wishing you great success and happiness in 2010! Especially after all the hardship you've been through this year...

Cool video, and Happy New Year to you! And I admire you for making New Year's resolutions; I've given that up as a depressing exercise. Yours are good ones, though. )

I don't generally make New Year's resolutions either, but I make goals when I need to (i.e. there is a deadline involved that I have to meet or else!). And in this case, my goals happened to dovetail nicely with the beginning of the New Year. :)

Your story encourages me. I haven't been writing much lately, reading a lot, but not writing. I suppose I should make a resolution to at least finish my WIPs.

The video was fun and it was great to recognize one of the authors in it. :-)
