Your Questions Answered, Part I

Apr 15, 2004 23:04

You all asked such interesting questions, and as usual I blathered way too much giving the answers, so I'm pasting them here with cut-tags -- the ones I've got done so far, at least. Thanks to everyone who's participated!

What do you like about your country? What makes you really happy? What would you say/do if you met JKR? )

questions, rl, memes, sex, alias, snape, fanfic, organization, interview, philosophy, knife, hp, writing

I didn't ask you any questions, as the ones you got asked were way cool, and it was most enjoyable to read your answers!

I liked the description of your day with your kids. :-)

I have just the books for Simon and Nicholas! Off to do some shopping, I think...

"Or worse, to have him turn out to be on Voldemort's side after all -- but I genuinely don't think she's going to do the latter"

I'm curious to know why you think she's not going to do this :) I'd like to be able to trust Rowling as you do, but I can't, especially when I read her interview with Stephen Fry in which she says that we should'nt feel too sorry for Snape!

JKR has said that we shouldn't think Snape is too nice, but that's not the same as telling us that he isn't on the side of good. Also, she's commented more than once (particularly in regard to one interviewer's remark that "there's an important sort of redemptive pattern to Snape") that the events of Book Seven will indeed be significant in Snape's life, and it doesn't sound like it's in a morally negative way ( ... )

Well thought! This is very coherent. Thank you very much, I feel more peaceful now :)

I'm just going to grab one leetle piece to ask you about -- "stirring up love before it pleases". Where's that phrase from? The way it's used, I'm kinda surprised I hadn't run into it at the semi-anti-Catholic Protestant-evangelical high school I went to (which nearly drove me insane).

Thank you, dr_c, I'd missed this comment! Or rather, I'd read it, said, "Ah, yes, I must reply to that," assiduously saved it for future response, and then forgotten it. I'm a little scatterbrained these days...
