Thank you! Laptop is well, only allowing internet and like 5 other programs in safe mode. I've signed my life over to dell again to get a really cheap laptop, but at least it shall work. This one has been having problems since I bought it, so, yeah.

And your card cracked me up! It was very much needed and appreciated.

To be fair, this laptop is almost four years old and I am tough on my computers. OTOH, the disc drive stopped working three years ago and I've had problems since the start. This laptop was part of the first roll-out of Vista, which explains a lot.

But Dell really has started to make shitty machines. I don't expect the next one to last for four years, but since I'm paying so little for it (over $130 of the cost is for installing windows software), I'm sort of okay with that. I am def. getting an external hard-drive next month though, to put all my music and video files on.

Have you ever heard of Ubuntu? It's an open source free OS. I know, I know, sounds sketchy with the free but it's great and an alternative to Windows.

I've had computer people tell me not to get a Dell so yeah...yeah...hope this one lasts just as long though!

I've not, but I'll check it out. I'm just such a creature of habit that I get all odd when faced with a different platform.

About 9 years ago, Dell had some damn good machines. Not so anymore. I would NEVER suggest their products to anyone, but they're the people whom I have a credit account with. I've worked on Acer and enjoyed them, I like Toshibas but I refuse to ever own a Mac. It's my weird non-conforming conformist attitude. And also being all cheap like.
