So today was my first day working on the floor as a cashier. Let me tell you, training as a cashier at a grocery store the day before school starts for all of Char-Meck and Meck Co. public schools, kind of hell-ish. But, I survived, bumbling through with big smiles, humor, and apologies. Seriously, you never ever realize how much goes into checking ( Read more... )

Hehehe~ I love that that cashier tag. I always notice that - why do they make the cashier stand? It's ridiculous. What do you do when there's no customers? Just stand there? That's bad for health man!

Sooo what perks do you get? I always wonder if people who work in the stores get tooo...carry home discounted stuff eg. non-selling produce, magazines past the month, old cake?

I saw the Virgin Queen just put up on my comm and I was contemplating getting it..is it any good without seeming like milking a cow I've been to many times?

Honestly, I'm so busy I'm pretty much non-stop for 8 hours and a stool would just take up space b/c the carts are so larg. But honestly, I'm dreaming of stools, and chairs, and non throbbing back and ft.

No perks I know of, not for Cashiers. While you're in the store, you are pretty much regarded as a shoplifter. It's insane. Anything you buy must have a receipt taped to it. If you carry out products from the store, they must be in bags, etc. etc. So, no perks, I know of. Then again, I'm new and I don't stock shelves.

Um, The Virgin Queen isn't bad, and it has quite a few good actors in the cast, and I adore the soundtrack, but really, it's you know, a Mastrerpiece Theater production going up against the likes of Cate Blanchette. It just doesn't match up. I still enjoy it, just b/c there are so many people in the cast I adore, but it's not a must-see.

Dude, you don't even know. And, like, there's different codes for organic and regular produce. Some is by weight and some is by quantity, and there are like, 15 different kinds of peppers. And I don't know any of the codes, or half the produce, so I have to keep flipping through the roll on top of my register to find the code for like, kirby cucumbers. It's sad.
