OMG, Hillbilly's mix is pretty much, "Hi, internet, I'm back in the South. Let me throw some Country/Western/Bluegrass at you. And make you cry. But then make you laugh. But then make you cry again."

Oh man, see. I just love banjos. And lap harps. Mandolin's, etc and FIDDLES. So a lot of my Bluegrass love is from the Irish/Celtic music tinged branch. However, Sugar Hill Records is THE label for Bluegrass. I pretty much rec. anyone on there.
I'm also a huge fan of Chris Thile, both his solo work and that with Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers. And okay, I also love Nickel Creek. And Punch Brothers. God, I love Punch Brothers. Def. check out some Punch Brothers.
The most famous recent Bluegrass act is def. Alison Krauss and Union Station. Um, the most famous Bluegrass tinged soundtracks are Cold Mountain and O, Brother, Where Art Thou?. I love them both.
The classic Bluegrass act you must listen to is Foggy Mountain Boys/Flatt and Scruggs. "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" is a standard and classic. The Charlie Daniel's Band's live version of "Orange Blossom Special" is another must-listen-to bluegrass standard. Seriously, you will marvel over how someone fingers can move that fast.
Lastly, the Dixie Chicks' album Home is ( ... )
