Visions without being a hunter *or* a source of information for hunters. What a nasty curse that must be. Sam's in trouble but not torn in shreds, which means Dean is doing a marvelous job of taking care of him.

Sam's MoL rebellion parallels John's MoL involution. John isn't a hunter here but a preserver of supernatural knowledge, so he protects Sam by keeping him locked up and Sam is desperate to get out and do something. Your sense of their relationships is so complete that it acts like an algorithm: change the input, and out comes the new answer.

I think Sam's visions are still mainly theoretical to him, as distressing as he finds them--no one's died in his arms yet. But things are clearly escalating (I see this as just around the start of S1 in canon).

John was always trying to protect Sam--I think knowing about Sam's demon blood would have been even harder on him here, since he would have kept that part from the MoL and thus been denied full confidence in their help.

I had this theory that here, John and Mary were a big Romeo and Juliet, "two houses alike in dignity" deal, which would give hunters a lot of baggage with Winchesters (not that Sam and Dean knew this).

This is a really interesting AU, and I can totally see Dean rebelling in precisely that way.

Oooooh, I like this AU.

OK, I'm not taking Sam's eye well, but.

This can be a whole series.

And I love this Dean, this early season Dean, caring and not talking directly and struggling with loyalties/obedience Dean... you write him just right.

Thank you! I think the real question is, in this version, who ends up burning on the ceiling? (And do they end up actively on the run from the MoL?)

Dean had picked Sam up in a burning house and, in a way, he’d never put Sam down..... Some things really never change. No matter what their circumstances, this will always be true. Love how much the same they are here, even with everything that's different :)

That was the one thing I was unwilling to have change!
