For a number of years, I went through a cycle of hair angst. I'd cut my hair short, love it for a while, and then start to get bored. I'd look around at other women's long, luxurious, feminine hair with envy and think: 'look at all the options I'd have!' Over time I've also figured out that I have some "emotional displacement" things, where I feel as if I could just fix that thing everything would be sorted. But in reality -- as I've learnt over time -- it's merely a sign of generalised dis-ease, and I actually need to dig deeper to figure out the root cause to why I'm feeling it then. Rather than just trying harder to fix the specific trigger thing.

I'm sorry to hear that the job hasn't worked out how you hoped from the interview. But pleased that you're going to be able to parlay what came from the move into future opportunities.

Also you look great with short hair. Just saying.

PS: I tend to agree with the theory that "easy living warm weather" tends to attract people with outdoors, relaxing, less intellectual sorts of goals. Which makes it harder for those os us that want warm weather and intellectual stimulation to find each other in such places (and people going to the less warm geek havens just enhances that effect).
