Alright everyone, this is (more or less) the official start of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! Our serials for this round will be The Highlanders, The Underwater Menace & The Moonbase.
& Ben threatening injured men with guns! Well, it is a ruse - Alexander and Jamie would have killed them otherwise, and after he did this they could finally attend to the Laird's wounds.
O GOD THEY SHOT ALEXANDER! BASTARDS! I can't say I was fond of Alexander, but his death made me sad. Still, I think he died the way he wanted - fighting the Redcoats. Too bad the diversion he wanted to cause didn't happen. :(
I think I have a recon of it OMG, YOU HAVE A RECON OF THE DALEKS' MASTER PLAN? *covets it like whoa*
It was mentioned in our talk that the writers had been asked to remove Katarina because of the nature of her character - she needed to have things explained to her & she didn't understand a lot of what she was faced with.Yes, that's exactly it. Mind you, she was a fast learner, and in her penultimate episode it was clear she had already managed to assimilate and understand a great deal more than she did initially, but it was in a much slower pace than Jamie does

Ah, yes, true. But still - was a bit worrying to see! (& if you think THAT made me worry, you should have seen me during The Macra Terror this afternoon!)

I sort of liked Alexander - but you know me; I tend to like anyone Jamie's got some sort of loyalty to by default initially. But I agree; I too think he died how he would have wished to, under the circumstances.

I see what you mean - in the, erm, thing that I read as a bit of research for that silly Jamie/Victoria story I have in my head, the heroine was v. much like that herself, only she was a spoiled brat, really, but like Kirsty, she had to grow up & mature after something a bit similar happened to her & she lost all of her family as a result. Hm. What "erm, thing" was this, pray?
I thought it was something you'd told me One had said after her death One's farewell lines to her were "I shall always remember her as one of the daughters of the gods." Makes me choke every time I watch the reconstruction clip of her death on YouTube.
Besides, Salamander >>>>> Zaroff. A thousand times over, y/n? The fact that Salamander is played by Pat alone should comfirm it.
Hm. What "erm, thing" was this, pray?Alright, I'd best 'fess up now & face my shame . . . it was a romance novel set in 1608, about the daughter of a laird who is very close to her brothers & fathers & is v. spoiled & refuses to marry, until she ends up falling in love (& a fair bit of lust) with a Highland warrior named Jamie Campbell. Later on, Jamie's brother accuses her father of harbouring fugitives & orders an attack on their castle, her brothers & father die as a result & to keep her land, she agrees to marry Jamie. & stuff happens, they fall in complete love by the end, THE END

Okay, so now the four of them are inside the moonbase - ugh, lecherous men touching Polly. ::cringes:: HANDS OFF. Actually, I think Benoit was just being helpful, though I can see how the cap used at that moment seems to point otherwise. These men are much more respectful and less hormonal than the ones from The Tenth Planet, thankfully.
2070?! Well, at least they've landed in the twenty-first century this time. & by then, they can control the weather from the moon - cool! Even though we're not given a date later on, it is my firm belief that The Wheel in Space also takes place around 2070, and that The Seeds of Death is set a few decades later - long enough for rockets to stop being used as transportation, and for weather control to be transferred from the moonbase to Earth, the moonbase then being occupied by the T-Mat services (unless that one is a second moonbase). But I'm jumping too much ahead.
O, dear, now Jamie's been taken ill? I think I missed something somewhere . . . o, it must have been

::gigglesnorts:: I don't even get a CHANCE to answer you yet & you've already broken our first comment! :P ::plops one of Two's hats upon your head::

YES! I'm sure Ben was glad. ;) & hmm - you've given me an idea - perhaps I'll try listening to the first audio of the serial & see if my reactions differ from watching the recap - I'm thinking I'll do that when I get to the audios you sent me, if I can't supplement them with one of my DVDs or a recon.

AH YES. ::flails:: I WISH I'd included that in my giant Jamie picspam, because I don't think I did! HOW COULD I DO THAT?! *assumes WOTAN voice* Jamie's bare chest is required...
I didn't even take The Invasion into consideration when I was watching The Moonbase - OF COURSE that's how they would know Two! Only now I'm wondering how the Cybermen from The Invasion knew him as well. *mind boggles*
& OMG, HOW COULD POLLY LET THEM CUT HER HAIR OFF LIKE THAT?! Her hair was so pretty long! It looked nice short, but she looks most

*assumes WOTAN voice* Jamie's bare chest is required...
::looks rather hypnotised:: I can arrange for this, yes I can . . .
(I think one day, we're just going to have to spam each other with Jamie caps & or .gifs. Because NOTHING is more fun than a comment party. & one with more Jamie? EXTRA YAY! :D)
I'll definitely let you know how it goes - I think it'll be like listening to a Big Finish audio in some way - I've NEVER had trouble imagining everything that's going on, even with my first ones. :D
Only now I'm wondering how the Cybermen from The Invasion knew him as well. *mind boggles*
Now I'M going to be thinking about this for days! Maybe from Tomb of the Cybermen? They were Telosian ones, right? That could maybe explain it?
The short hair suited her mod personality, I think. I prefer it long as well, though. *shrugs*
You know, I'd say it did too, but she looked so fab with her longer hair. (& I would LOVE to try her hairstyle that she wears in The Faceless Ones - I'm thinking of showing it to the barbarian & seeing if she

I WILL HAVE A LONGER COMMENT LATER WHEN I HAVE MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES AT THE COMPUTER, BUT FOR NOW I WILL SAY THIS: FUCK YEAH, POLLY! SHE IS BEYOND FANTABULOUS Y/Y?
I've been skimming your recaps of the episodes I've haven't seen/heard yet, but am interested to see that Polly's character is more developed than she appears in the surviving episodes of Underwater Menace and Moonbase, which are just about the only one I've seen of her so far. I shall have to catch up on War Machines, Tenth Planet, and the recons!
The moment in Moonbase where Two realises the Cyberman is IN THE ROOM is chilling! I also like the little speech where he talks about fighting the evils of the universe.
I wouldn't say that The Underwater Menace is one of Polly's good serials by any means, but she is LOVELY in The Moonbase, as is Ben. & that was my first serial with her! :D

YES & YES! A lovely speech by Two (who says some equally KICKASS things in The Macra Terror) & OMG FINDING THE CYBERMAN IN THE INFIRMARY. I do not lie, I got chills the very first time I saw that. It is a BRILLIANT scene. ::nods::
