She had been at her room when she had gotten the message from the queen and then had gotten into one of her, now frequent, fights with Cloud. She had been at the end of her rope where everything was concerned and that included him.

Until he had practically...broken. From the look of things it was bad and she had not wanted...She hadn't wanted to do that.

When he had asked to meet her, she was out the door in about a minute. She'd tossed her Shuriken over shoulder and ran.

Once she was near the docks she slowed down and began to look in earnest. She picked up the edge of her dress as she walked trying not to catch it on the people or the boxes.

She had been angry at him for days, and she hadn't quite let go of that but there was no way in hell she was going to leave a friend in need. Finally she saw him, and called to him as she ran over.

"Cloud!"

To be honest, Cloud was looking a little... rough around the edges. His hair didn't seem as neat or clean as it usually did, his skin was a shade paler than usual and his eyes -- his eyes that were usually so hard and almost cold were now soft, sad, unfocused. They didn't look nearly as vivid as they should.

And then, he heard her voice. The familiar voice of a friend he knew well. Quietly, he shifted, careful of his still-healing ankle, turning to look at her with those defeated, tired eyes as though he had not been actually expecting her to come.

But she is Yuffie, the blond thought to himself, of course she would come. He hadn't realized how much he missed her, missed everything he had abandoned until he finally saw her again.

But he didn't have the strength to smile right now.

"Yuffie." His voice was quiet, almost distant. "It's been a while."

Yuffie had always looked up to Cloud in her world. He was like a big brother...he was a hero. Granted he was fucked up...more then probably any of them would ever admit. She knew that.
But that didn't stop her from feeling like the floor was out from under her seeing him like this. And while she knew what ever trigger she had set off was just a tiny part of the overall problem she still began to feel guilty for causing it.

she also knew the hell these past few weeks had been...she knew she looked a little disheveld herself from he flight out the door and she really needed a hair cut...like really needed one. But he didn't even look healthy.

"Yeah...yeah it has." She replied. She was conflicted between feeling guilty...feeling kinda proud that he'd actually asked for her help...and insanely pissed off that he'd let it get this far.

After weeks of fighting and arguing with everyone, it seemed Cloud was finally beginning to lose his frustration. But, that frustration was being steadily replaced with a quiet depression, kept at bay only by the same threads of hope he had left.

He didn't know how long those threads would go without fraying. And if he was honest with himself? He was scared that the darkness would overtake and destroy him here in Rivelata.

Cloud glanced her over quickly, and with an almost guilty feeling, realized that this was the first time he had actually seen her since she was freed from that cave. "..." The blond was at a loss. Did he want her here so he could apologize? Or did he, for once, want help? He wasn't sure what to even think anymore.

"I'm glad you're alright now." He said softly, not knowing what else to say to her right now.

"Thank....Thank you." she ducked her head a little. trying to figure out exactly why he had asked her to come. He was her friend...no question about that. But that didn't stop what he had done in the past few weeks, and it didn't stop how much he had hurt her.

Yuffie had spent weeks trying not to worry. And she had spent weeks failing miserably. She had a hundred questions all at once that she knew he would never answer. Cause no matter what version you were dealing with...you just didn't ask...You didn't talk about certain things...But weather or not she got some answers she had to ask something.

And no matter how broken he looked she had a good couple of weeks of anger and frustration and sadness and hurt behind her. And it all came rushing back seeing him.

"What the hell we're you thinking!" She finally cried out after a moment. She realized how loud that had been and quieted to continue. "What has been the point of...of any of this?" She asked clenching her fists.

For once, Cloud didn't meet her frustration with anger of his own. He just averted those tired eyes of his, looking to the ground instead of his friend. It was hard to face Yuffie after all this time, after everything he had done... and it was harder to accept the fact that he had succeeded in nothing but hurting her even more.

"I'm sorry, Yuffie." He spoke, seemingly drained of the fight within him. "I don't know what I can say to make this better..." Cloud paused for a moment, as if collecting up the nerve to continue. "I would take but all the hurt I've inflicted on you if I could, even if it meant taking that pain upon myself. After all... you don't deserve that. No one does. Except for..." The blond finally looked up again, blue, desolate eyes meeting with hers. "...me."

Yuffie stood there for a moment honestly wondering if she'd heard him right. Her eyes narrowing.

Exscuse him. What the hell did he think this was all about. What had...She fought her own thoughts and all she could come up with was a mess.

Not only was he just about as down as she'd seen anyone....Shiva he looked just defeated and that made her hurt all over again. There was so much that was wrong with all of this..

She felt her eye's start to blur as she fought back crying. She was just about at her wits end.

"Why would you say something like that?" She finally asked. "What the hell gives you the...Why..." She was at a huge loss for words or rational thoughts and finally in a fit of irrational(and she had to admit childish beyond beleif) behavior, She kicked out and hit Cloud in the leg.

"Why wont you fucking listen to me?"

It seemed lady luck was not on Cloud's side lately, for the leg Yuffie had kicked was the one with his broken ankle. And she had actually hit said broken ankle. A small little grunt of pain escaped him and he stumbled back a little before letting himself fall to his knees on the wharf, gloved hands pressed to the wood, wounded leg throbbing a little with the force of the ninja's kick.

Although he was still void of anger, he was a little irritated by the sudden pain his ankle was causing. He looked up at his friend, but his face was still without a frown. "My ankle is broken." The blond said quietly. "And I do listen. I just can't do what you want me to."
