Kanda was practically gasping for air, lungs and legs burning from running so damn hard after his General. He had just taken care of Daisya; Lenalee and Komui were watching over him now.

Lenalee and Komui... Kanda's heart pounded. So far, from all of them, they were the only ones remaining unaffected by the blood. Even Kanda was struggling with it, but perhaps seeing everyone else falling apart around him helped him maintain his sense of self.

That... and, well shit, there was no way he would be so weak.

He snarled in his throat when he found that bastard standing close to the exit of the city, scribbling madly on his little tablet that Kanda remembered often wanting to beat him over the head with every time they had to stop for the sake of scenery during their travels. Another pang of something he did not want to name shot through him.

"General!" he called, letting all the rage be heard in his voice. "GENERAL!"

The General straightened up, "I thought I told you to stay with Lenalee and Daisya." he said cooly, tossing another piece of crumpled paper away. He looked over at Kanda.

"You look like something the cat killed and brought in, Yuu..."

Kanda stopped when he was close enough, struggling to breathe, staring with somewhat shocked eyes as another sheet of paper landed in a forgotten, crumpled heap upon the ground. "It's not like you to waste a drawing, even a poor one," he observed in a quiet voice.

"Poor would be an overstatement, Yuu." Again, a slight distance in his voice, "Please go back home, alright. I am sure Daisya is worried about you."

Catching his breath, Kanda stood up straight, staring at Tiedoll straight in the eye. "No," he said firmly. "I'm not leaving without you. If I go back there, you're coming with me."

"No, you're going to do something you haven't done since I arrived here and follow an order and go back home."

"Not without you," Kanda shot back. "Think about it. I never disobeyed you since I've been with you." To emphasize, he began to slowly unsheathe Eikyu. "If I have it, it had not been for my own sake. I am not going without you. And if I have to knock you out and drag you back with me, SIR, then I will do it."

Something about Kanda drawing his weapon at the General made something inside of him snap. He dropped the charcoal, grabbed the boy's srist drawing out the sword, raised his hand, and then in a way that would make most mothers and people who regularly slap someone proud, backhanded, quickly and across the face.

"Don't. You. Ever. Draw. Your. Weapon. Against. Me. Ever. Again,." he said with an anger that was very much unlike him, "I am not going to have you get hurt by going into the jungle half cocked."

The General might as well have ripped Kanda's heart out, it would have had the same effect. This man before him was NOT his General. He was someone else, someone Kanda had never met before. For once, those cold gray eyes were filled with something else besides shock and anger; along with them, there was also pain.

Do what you have to.

Right.

"Forgive me," Kanda whispered softly, and flicked his wrist in such a way that Tiedoll was forced to let go, and released a sharp kick. His foot slammed into the side of the General's head, sending the old Exorcist to the ground.

He wiped some blood off of the corner of his mouth. And stood back up, he didn't make it to General if that would keep him down.

"Do that again, and I will break your legs." he said plainly, looking at the blood, "I am not going to loose another student."
