She wasn't too happy with the meager assortment of tools she'd managed to scrounge up so far, but it would have to do. Though she couldn't very well expect to find high-tech implements on such a low-tech world, she would've sold one of her kidneys for a good soldering iron. Hopefully Marcus' machine had the kinda wiring problem that could be fixed with nimble fingers and a little intuitive guesswork.

Kaylee smiled and waved as the door opened, although the fella's bandage and overall roughed-up look gave her a bit of a start. He seemed to be the soldierin' type, with his short-cropped hair and impressive build.

"Get in a lil' tussle with yer robot?" she asked playfully to break the ice.

So. Marcus turned out to be...some sort of robot. It was amazing, how little that seemed to faze War. Then again, she'd been around to see the natural progress of things, so it was hardly an illogical next step in development - that was one thing she had to give to humans: they always seemed to find something new. Of course, they usually then proceeded to do all sorts of damage to or with it, but that was hardly something she was going to complain about, now was it?

It was curiosity more than anything that made her slip in before the door could close behind the tiny little waif of a girl who'd arrived at Marcus', but she supposed it would have to do. She honestly didn't think she could do much of anything - hadn't made much of an effort to keep up with the times, as it were: why bother, when her broadsword was all she needed? - but you never know. Maybe she'd be pleasantly surprised.

Marcus stepped back to let Kaylee enter the room and was pleasantly surprised to see Red come in almost right behind her. He decided to leave the door open just in case someone else decided to come over. Kaylee's statement made him realize she probably had misunderstood what she had come here to hopefully fix, and if his first appearance had given her a start, then she was in for a real shock soon. Well, he might as well get this over with...

He began to peel the glove off of his damaged hand. "All the parts seem pretty much intact, don't think I even dented the metal. So that's why I was guessing it must have been the circuitry."

Finally the glove came off and he was able to show them. Most of the flesh had been removed from the knuckles and the back of the hand, allowing full view and access to the mechanical parts inside. Marcus tried to flex his fingers again, getting the same result as before. "I can move them a little, but they're not responding how they should. Any ideas?"

When a tall redhead ghosted in behind her, Kaylee got a little case of the prickles all over her skin. She smiled politely and nodded to the woman, but for some reason she couldn't explain, the stranger's presence gave her a bad feeling, like the tension that gripped the cargo hold in the middle of a deal going sour, the moment before everybody drew guns...

Kaylee shook her head to clear out the uninvited and totally unwarranted dark thoughts, and fixed her eyes on Marcus while he talked. They grew wide. A hand involuntarily went up to her mouth as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing.

At first she thought it must be the most elegant, fine-tuned prosthesis in the Verse. But then she took in the significance of the shredded skin, the flesh and blood encasing metal ligatures that disappeared seamlessly into Marcus' arm. Advanced robotics, he'd said. He'd been talking about himself."Is th..." Kaylee trailed off and reached out the hand that had been cupping her mouth. "Is the rest of you...like this?" There was wonder in her ( ... )

Seven came in the open door moments before Marcus removed his glove, revealing his hand and the exposed metal inside it. At first glance, it didn't seem all that much more complicated than her own cybernetics, but she would have to look closer to know that for sure. His appearance simply made her curious, she was used to exposed circuitry and mechanics--she'd once been more machine than human, after all.

Whatever was wrong, she was confident in her ability to repair the malfunction, if one of the others couldn't.
