Clutching the journal in her right hand, MJ slowly made her way off the pier. MJ wasn't exactly sure what to say once she saw Spider-Man. Sure, they'd dated once, but it was the most awkward date she'd ever been on (dates with Harry didn't count). But they were still friends, weren't they? She was going to be okay. Really.
There he was. She took a deep breath and cheerfully waved to him as if nothing had happened. "Spider-Man! Hey!"
Funny how it brought back memories of chasing him across town for that date, but MJ didn't really care. At least she finally knew someone in this strange place.
Spidey waved back, which probably looked odd when he was sitting sideways on a wall. He dropped down to the ground in front of her, looking her over for injuries. She looked a little different than he remembered, but it had been an entire year since he'd seen her. Maybe his memory was getting fuzzy.
"Welcome to 17th Century Funland," he quipped, putting his hands on his hips. "I'll be your costumed ambassador. Any questions?"
"Maybe later," She giggled, tilting her head to the side. "I've already heard the basic speech. Welcome to Rivelata, you can't leave, these magic journals record voice and sound, the government's screwy, yada yada."
Shyly, she swayed from side to side as she added, "So, my fearless tour guide, what're we going to do now?"
MJ was never this... bubbly. Oh sure, she was happy and excited about stuff, but she... almost sounded like she had a crush or something. Peter perked up a bit. Maybe things were on the mend where she came from.
"Well, I do have a place to stay, and you're welcome to be my roomie," he said, scratching the back of his head with his hand. "Not in the same room, of course, if you don't want to!" he added quickly, glad that she couldn't see him blushing behind the mask. "I have more than one bedroom."
Spidey looked her over once again. She really did seem different. "Say, what's the last thing you remember before you wound up here? And what were you saying about Harry Osborn?"
Wait. Did he just ask her to stay in the same house? As much as she'd love to take him up on that offer, what about his secret identity? He was supposed to be fiercely protective of it!
"But I thought you didn't want me to know your secret identity," She blinked, sounding quite confused, "And... uh, as much as I'd love to be your roomie, it'd totally interfere with that."
At the mention of Harry, she immediately flinched. "Oh. We just broke up, so I figure he's pretty mad at me right now. As for the last thing I remember... well, I just came back home from watching the snow with a friend."
