Hum a little, hmm~ Hmm~ Hmm~
It's so ea--
Ooh!"
How she heard Bruce's voice over the chattering and twittering of the animals might have very well been a mystery if this wasn't ... Giselle.
She hurried to hush the chittering animals, urging them to work quietly. "We're going to have a guest now, so you have to be on your best behaviors!" There were a few protesters, and not all of them seemed keen on remaining quiet. In fact, one bird in particular began to tweet excessively loudly. "...Susan! That's not a very nice thing to say. He's always welcome here." With a sigh, she gathered a few scraps of fabric and set them off to the side.
"Come in," she called cheerfully.

"You know," she continued finally, looking away from the gown to regard Bruce. "The ball is coming up very shortly, and someone has to make sure everyone is prepared! After all, Miss Madam did say that formal wear is a requirement!" The animals around her erupted into sounds of agreement. Some nodded, while others flapped their tiny wings and sang out brief songs. They quickly calmed, however, as Giselle politely shushed them. "She seems like such a wonderful lady."

Bruce gave a little half-smile. It might even have been more than just a half-smile, if the ball was thrown by someone other than the Madam. He had had no intention of going to the ball, and moreover, no intention of having Giselle go. Disasters tended to abound at large celebrations, as they had when Giselle had thrown a party last summer, and what's more, the host was not the kind of person it would be best for Giselle to interact with... and if she went, Bruce knew Giselle would probably track the Madam down to thank her profusely for putting on such a wonderful ball.
"She can seem that way. This certainly is generous of her. But... Giselle, I don't think you exactly understand what it is she does."

"What she ... does?" Giselle sounded perplexed, and she was. It was true. She didn't understand what the Madam did. She had no real idea, in fact, but it certainly wasn't terrible, was it? A beautiful and generous woman like the Madam-- Surely, she only did wonderful things, didn't she?
She lowered her thread and needle to the table and narrowed her eyes in confusion, tilting her head slightly to the side. "...What does she do?"
