Yuna sat on one of the pews, the soft little vines whispering in their sweet, nymphlike voices. She didn't need to hear the squeaking to know Tidus was on his way. The plants had told her as soon as he set foot in the forest. Her gown fluttered and her long sleeves swayed as she hopped to her feet, daintily bounding to her guardian. Instinct told her to hug him around the neck, but she kept her hands demurely at her waist, folded fingers hidden by the sleeves.
"Hello," she smiled cheekily, "So you can navigate the forest after all!"
The summoness bowed a little to the vines, which wound along her ankles like a litter of anxious kittens.
"The saplings told me you were on your way. I hope they didn't bother you."
Tidus gave a small gasp. He had read something of a gown in Yuna's recent journal entry, but he had never expected it to be that beautiful. It brings out the colour in her eyes perfectly, he thought, momentarily distracted. Tidus grinned even wider when Yuna smiled back, and he took a few steps forward.
"Of course I can! I won't ever get lost in that forest again!" Tidus protested indignantly. The entire forest fiasco was embarrassing enough without Yuna bringing it up. He even had to get Kairi to help him. Tidus scratched his head a little, his face a little flushed at the reminder.
"Nah, they didn't bother me at-- hang on a sec.. the saplings?" he asked, confused. How did they talk? Could they even do that? Tidus moved closer, and kneeled down to get a closer look at the saplings. They looked perfectly normal. And although he wasn't really interested in plants, he at least knew that plants didn't talk.
"Yes, the saplings..." She knelt down beside him gracefully, extending a hand to the plants.
Beyond all logic, the little saplings began to curl about her fingers, a soft hush accompanied by a sound like giggles in the wind rising in the empty church, before brushing away like a sea breeze.
"They're Seymour's and I; we tend to them. They speak with him more than they do me, but they're kind."
A vine snapped itself off, creeping atop her hair and curling into a pretty spiral before unfurling a beautiful faint blue peony. She stroked the soft petals and thanked the plants the same way she would thank the parishioners at Besaid, using the same, soft spoken voice one would with children.
She smiled and offered her hand as a proper lady would.
THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME I CAN TELL~ <3fayth_dreamsAugust 29 2009, 19:50:07 UTC
Tidus looked at Yuna disbelievingly. The saplings were actually responding to her, and he thought he heard them giggling softly. It was really too bad, though; his pleasant disbelief was snatched away by a feeling of annoyance and perhaps even a little jealousy when Seymour was mentioned. Sure, Seymour had proposed to her, but Yuna hadn't even accepted it! Yet they were so close now. Tidus looked down and sighed a little. What had he missed while he was away from here?
He took Yuna's offered hand without hesitation, and led her out of the church. Tidus didn't even bother letting go-- in fact, he didn't want to. His initial annoyance changed into a wide grin of wildness and excitement as they navigated through the forest.
Tidus looked back for a moment-- he wanted to check if Yuna could keep up.
Using her free hand to gather up her skirts, Yuna's face glowed with a bright smile as she hastened her pace to catch up.
"Let's go!"
Yuna leapt over toppled trees and evaded flowering pants in her soft silk shoes, darting through the trees. She made sure to keep their hands linked, lest either of them fall and bring the other down.
She pealed with bright laughter, hurrying as the town's lights came into view.
"I'm almost out of breath!" She panted, though she was unsure if it was from running or from laughing so much.
XDDD WHAT.fayth_dreamsAugust 29 2009, 20:06:36 UTC
Tidus laughed loudly. His heart was beating ever so quickly, and he could barely refrain himself from jumping for joy. It had really been too long since he'd gone out with Yuna. Everything had been changing so rapidly around them-- it was hard to find time to hang out.
"A-all right," he gasped for breath. "L-let's.. stop." Tidus frowned a little. Usually, he wouldn't even be panting at all just by running that small distance, but ever since he'd arrived here, he had felt much heavier than before. It was probably due to the power restrictions Lulu had told him about.
Almost immediately, his frown changed back to his trademark grin as he walked with Yuna to the market district. He hadn't really thought about what to do yet, but he had figured that he would buy Yuna a present. Girls liked presents, right? That would probably do it.
The market was busy, so Yuna wound her arm through Tidus' to stay close. When they weren't running, she could let her skirts go, free to swish about her legs, brushing Tidus' shins with their soft silks. Stalls were everywhere, selling everything from goldfish in pouches to strange-shaped food on sticks.
"That... Almost looks tasty." Yuna peered over a stall hawking mysterious deep-fried food.
She lifted her head, curious, "Did Zanarkand have food like this?"
GRAH GONNA HAVE TO HEAD TO BED SOON IT'S LIKE 4.15AM >__> Will reply tomorrow!fayth_dreamsAugust 29 2009, 20:21:03 UTC
Tidus looked around, his dirty blonde hair standing out amongst the crowd. It was so lively, and bustling.. In a way, it reminded him of home.
"Let's go get that, then!" Tidus smiled, gently pulling Yuna along with him to the stall that she had indicated. He processed her question slowly. It had been so long since he truly was home, he had almost forgotten what it was like back there. Tidus wasn't exactly one to take note of his surroundings carefully.
"Yeah, there is! In Zanarkand, people set up their stalls in the market places all night, and there are always tons of people out there! Even more than there are, here! And then there's all kinds of food, too.. Not just these!"

After making the purchase of a pair of mysterious roasted skewers and passing one to Tidus, Yuna contemplated the most polite and least messy way to eat such a thing. It took her several approaches with her mouth daintily opening and closing before she found a good enough place to take a bite, albeit small and dainty, like a bird pecking.
"Oooh, it's good!" She lifted her head, a bit of peanut-sauce on the corner of her mouth.
"What other kinds of food? In Besaid everything we ate was fish! And only certain kinds, we couldn't eat certain sacred fish..."
It's okay! No fail! \o/ *fives!* I'm fail at this too, my mind's like, half dead.fayth_dreamsSeptember 2 2009, 13:36:21 UTC
Tidus gobbled down his skewer eagerly. It's looks matched it's taste.
"Uhhuh, it's sweet!" He smiled. Then he chuckled when he saw the peanut-sauce on the corner of Yuna's mouth. "You have some sauce here," he said, as he moved closer to wipe it off for her.
Again, Tidus pondered Yuna's question for awhile. He scratched his head a little, wondering, then suddenly lightened up. "Oh yeah, we had this-- what? Only fish?" He watched Yuna incredulously. How could anyone survive on just fish?
