Lenalee entered the room, studying Kanda's expression. Was he going to go through with telling the others? She suspected that he would, especially after the incident of the other night.

And I can't hide this from my brother, she thought. I have trouble lying to anyone, but him . . . every time I had to pretend to be Kanda in front of him, it was like a little of me died inside.

Plus there was the matter of General Tiedoll. It was obvious that he wasn't buying any of the lie.

"Kanda," she said, "you are going to tell them, aren't you?"

"Of course I am!" Kanda snapped at her, but then softened quickly. There was no need to take his frustration out on her. He sighed heavily, glancing at her.

She might have been in his body but her eyes were still the same, and he looked away quickly, suddenly remembering the conversation he had with Daisya the night before.

"Go ahead and make yourself comfortable," he said. "Knowing General Cross, especially, some of them are probably going to take their dear old time getting here."

She sat down, studying him. Something was bothering him, and it didn't have to do with giving away their secret, or his injuries after the fight. She'd known him for far too long to not be able to pick up on something like that.

"Kanda," she said, "is there anything you want to talk about before the others come?"

He sighed again, and leaned one crutch against his side to reach up and run a hand through his bangs. "Not now, Lenalee," he said quietly, one of the extremely rare moments where he actually addressed her by name. "I... I can't really discuss it right now. I will soon."

He couldn't face her right now, not when he was still trying to accept these feelings, not so soon after such a conversation with Daisya.
