If the soft noises and presence of Kurama weren't enough to wake him up, the strong smell of the roses definitely were. Hakkai blinked a few times and looked to the window, where the redhead was waiting.

"Good morning," he said simply, running a hand through his hair.

Kurama smiled, lifting one hand to gesture lazily at the tray on the bedside table - and wasn't it odd (and somewhat flattering) that Hakkai hadn't even glanced there, but his sight had gone straight to Kurama ( ... )

"Thank you for going to the trouble." Polite as always, but with a genuine smile on his face, Hakkai sat up straight in bed.

Everything was arranged perfectly, and Hakkai did have to admit that he was rather hungry. However, what caught his attention, naturally, was the small box.

"Is this for me?"

Kurama laughed softly. If Hakkai thought this was going to trouble, wait until he figured out just how many more of those roses were packed into the front room downstairs.

"No trouble at all," though, was the only thing he said, before moving closer to the bed and sitting on the edge, making the mattress dip slightly with his weight. At Hakkai's question, he smiled and only hummed affirmatively, gesturing towards the box in an attempt to indicate that Hakkai should open it.

Inside the small box, Hakkai would find a variety of smaller containers, each carefully sealed and containing a different array of dried, loose teas. Kurama, of course, made much of the tea they drank in the household, but he'd had a little fun with these.

Rather than being ordinary, run-of-the-mill varieties, Kurama had chosen flowers and plants that might not be expected. Things with pungent flowers and leaves, things with gentler scents, even some of his easier to grow Makai variety plants (and that had drained him of energy for a while). Each container held ( ... )

One by one, Hakkai examined each little bag of tea, bringing them to his nose to smell and noting many different types of leaves, some of which he'd never seen or smelled before.

"I'm impressed," he said, after a moment. He looked back up at Kurama with a smile. "You put a lot of effort into this. And all for Valentine's Day?"
