Selene was staring out the window, heavy curtains drawn back as she watched the boy saunter down the street. Why she was stricken by this sudden compulsion to sing, she hadn't the slightest. The drapes fell closed again as she moved away from the window, returning to the bookshelf to pack away the last of her tomes into one of the many crates across the room. She ran a hand over the empty shelf, her lips curving down in a small frown, brow furrowing.
I built these memories on my own,
Covered these walls in the brilliant dark.
Nights come and go and still I long...
You were here so briefly, why do I feel...?
She turned to the couch, weaving carefully around the crates to sink down against the plush velvet. She sank down onto her side, closing her eyes and drawing in a deep breath.
Your scent still lingers here ( ... )

He raised his brow. Singing.
People were singing terribly horrible songs of loneliness. Well, at least they weren't singing about love and joy, but he couldn't help noticing ... feeling a strange need to chime in with his own song or two. It wasn't unfamiliar-- he'd sang plenty of times with Pella, but in the heat of battle and destruction; among death.
He leapt upon one of the small stands and onto a fountain, his hands red and orange with brilliant flame, and tossed fireballs in no particular direction as he began to sing a ballad:
"Have I told you lately that I hate you?
That I want to maim and decapitate you?
You fill my heart with loathing;
I want to hear you moaning--
Kill you slowly, that's what I'll do~"

"Don't be so hung up on Gabriella, Bolton. She couldn't cheat on you if she tried."
Chad put a hand on Troy's shoulder, "Yeah, dude. You and Gabriella are like. Rock solid."
A quick step away and Ryan was standing on a low wall. He threw his arms out.
"Troy, I know you're feeling down
and this has got you in the dumps
but you gotta Believe
in the power of Love."
Chad joined him on the wall and looked toward Troy. Poor guy looked so sad. Without Gabriella he really didn't know what to do. Chad held out a hand to Troy and opened his mouth to sing. Part of him didn't want to, but part of him knew it was totally required by the musical.
"Love can help you work out
all the problems that you got.
Love can help you forget
all the reasons why you fought.
This emotion keeps me spinning
and my world keeps going 'round."
Chad had turned during his verse and was now facing Ryan, "Without you ( ... )

Oh! Look! There were people singing...! Caboose skipped down to be near them. He was so excited! He loved to sing! Hmmm. What would he sing?
Ohhh. He knew just the song to sing! So he started to sing, saying the words (with his mouth) while his feet stayed on the ground, and were not walking... anymore.
"Row row row your boat, Gently down the stream!
Pockets full of posies!
Uh. Near... Far... Where ever, you are...!
I'm.. um. Staying alive! Staying.. Alive!
Eh... The bare... Necessaries!
Makes... No difference! Who, you are!
For the land, of the free!! And the home... of... the brave!!"
Caboose puffed out his chest. Oh, they would be so proud of him...!

Mithos clenched his fists. This world was no different. Some humans pretended to be kind, wooing them with sly words and underhanded motives, but he wouldn't be fooled. The power-- his power, that could crush worlds and enslave armies was somehow suppressed, here... but Mithos felt it coming back. Slowly and surely, he had regained the power of his wings, and soon he would regain everything ( ... )
