Perhaps as well as anyone, Bruce knew the power of the crystals. In the jungle, he had seen the amulet the Temple Guardian wore, and at its center was a crystal not unlike those the others were discovering... not unlike the one Rikku had left behind when she had disappeared

She placed her own crystal on the table after approaching the small group, an index finger lingering on the smooth surface of the carved jewel. Basements of cafes? Embedded in stone walls? Odd places to find such things, she thought, especially considering assumed dates. If they had, indeed, come from somewhere else, where had they been

People started entering the cafe, which Mokona guessed, were individuals who found mysterious crystals too.

Soon, they started talking, mostly about how, when and where they found the crystals.

Piping up, Mokona bounced. "Yuuko-san and I found ours in a storage room when we were cleaning! Mokona accidentally dropped a box and a tile cracked and that's where we found the crystals embedded!"

Yuuko turned to the newcomer. "It is quite alright."

She listened to Garnet's account of how she had found the crystal. She petted Mokona gently when the little creature piped up.

"Thank you, Garnet, Mokona," she turned to the newcomer again, "Perhaps you would care to share what you have discovered about your own crystal?"
