Perhaps as well as anyone, Bruce knew the power of the crystals. In the jungle, he had seen the amulet the Temple Guardian wore, and at its center was a crystal not unlike those the others were discovering... not unlike the one Rikku had left behind when she had disappeared.

He knew well the power of that crystal which had been set in the amulet-- it had reduced Max and many others to mere humans, magnifying the Garnet's effects beyond even the strongest limits it imposed on new arrivals. Still, from all his experiments, the one he had seemed not so dangerous, at least as far as he could tell, it's only demonstrated power the detection of metal, and yet he knew he couldn't afford to underestimate the item, nor could any who had come into possession of them.

And so, then, it was with interested that he had seen the group gathering as they found the crystals, and quietly, he wondered to himself how long ago they all had found their crystals. After all, he knew Rikku's, at least, had been planted long ago, but the sudden rash of crystal appearances, or at least mentions, in the journals led him to believe perhaps some other force was scattering them-- of gifting them-- among the populace of Rivelata.

In any case, from what he could tell, of those who had agreed to go, there were none he had any reason to hide the possession of the metal-detecting crystal from, and, besides, it would be better to have some knowledge of what the others had gleaned from their crystals-- he was keeping track of who had what, much as he had when he did with the heart crystals.

And so it was that Bruce slipped quietly into the Cafe, hood down-- for to have his hood up would only have drawn attention to him-- and pulled up a seat at the table with the others, quietly setting the crimson gem on the table before him as an indication he, too, had a crystal, as he looked apologetically to the others.

"Apologies for not expressing my interest over the journals, but I prefer to keep such matters as these only to those I trust, and not to whomever may happen to be browsing the pages."
