WHO: Yagami Light, anyone who drops by WHAT: Light finds things are not as planned (*rimshot*) WHERE: Market district WHEN: Day 182, late afternoon/early evening
"Why, what'd we do?" he asked, glancing over at the strange woman. "But like, if you're new, you should probably get a job, or something. What're you good at?"
"You don't always need to do something to draw another person's ire," Light said, shrugging it off, but watching Salvatore walk past out of the corner of his eye. Not a threat.
What was he good at? Oh where to begin. "My father is a police chief," he said, putting in a puff of pride, "and I've been helping him out since I graduated from high school. Law enforcement kind of runs in the family."
"Wow, that's so cool!" Troy could already tell that this guy was way smarter than him. That was okay, lots of people were. Just so long as he wasn't arrogant about it. "From what I've heard, there are a lot of criminals in Rivelata... maybe you could talk to the police or something."
She threw the core away, swiping another apple when the stall owner had his head turned again, twirling her cap on her other hand and letting her ears air out, unfolding them and wiggling, giggling some more.
"Work is for chumps, humans, and chumpy humans!" She took another bite, getting a bit of juice on her chin. "So, kids, what do you do for fun around here?" Her eyes were particular focused on Light. She knew something was particularly interesting at him, but she wasn't quite sure what it was yet.
"A lot of criminals," Light mused. "That's unfortunate. It seems like such a nice place here."
The odd female was closer now and insisting on being a part of the conversation. Fine. "Both of you have been here longer than I have," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. "You tell me."
She was worse than the Shinigami with that apple, honestly.
