Poor Matsuri is always saving Yoite's butt erasemeaway September 25 2008, 04:49:13 UTC
Yoite was completely disgusted with himself. His pills were completely gone. Without his cardiac pills, his heart had nothing to keep it beating normally, save his own willpower. It had come on him so suddenly. First the chills, then the telltale closing of his throat, before finally a coughing fit seized him and he simply couldn't breathe. His whole body was shredded with pain as his body ripped itself apart from end to end ( ... )

She doesn't mind. : < nightwoe September 25 2008, 06:09:17 UTC
Matsuri heard nothing. Nothing, absolutely nothing! Where was Yoite..? Where was he? He had to be here somewhere -- he had to be. Matsuri wouldn't let something happen. She hurried down the street, and at first she almost passed right by Yoite. Even with her eyes that allowed her to see particularly well in the dark. He just blended in with the garbage bins curled up on the floor like that ( ... )

Yoite uttered a sound between a groan and a whimper as he was scooped up, his body limp and easily maneuvered by Matsuri. Broken bones crumpled as his torso was moved; a few of his ribs had snapped. He simply didn't have the fight left in him. His raspy breaths made his whole body shudder, head bobbing feebly. Thick black rings surrounded his eyes, further enhancing his appearance as a skeleton. A little pink tongue slipped out and licked his dry, cracked lips on instinct.

"Hurts," he grunted through clenched teeth, "Hurts. Morphine..."

Though thirst and hunger were among Yoite's physical demands, they were completely drowned out by the searing pain that made thoughts of anything else impossible.

His trembling hand reached blindly for his companion, and settled behind her neck, gloved fingers threading through her hair.

He had been a little offended when the boy refused to answer his comment on the journal.

He had been worried when Matsuri did.

He was now panicking, since said boy happened to be clutching his daughter ward by the neck in a decidedly too personal manner.

The Doctor rushed onto the scene, eyes darting from boy to girl and back.

"Matsuri! Yoite! OY!" Skidding to a stop nearby, he just managed to catch Yoite's word-grunts. "Morphine? It's at the clinic! But I'm not so sure you should... not if we don't know what's up with you - " He placed two fingers against the side of his neck just below the jaw. "Your heartbeat's erratic... morphine might not be best, at least not at the moment. I know it's hard to speak, but bear with me - did you have medication of any kind? Any sort of condition?"

He slid his glazed blue eyes open for a moment; they rolled about a little as he desperately tried to string words together after his thoughts.

"Cardiac..." He murmured, "Heart medicine."

His other hand knotted his ragged trench and the scarf he kept over his heart, "Gone for a week now."

Coughs seized his body so roughly that it seemed like a seizure, his limbs scattering and twisting with each hack.

"hurts." he whispered, tears trickling from the corners of his eyes.

The coldness of his expression vanished as he gazed sightlessly toward Matsuri, looking all of fourteen years old, despite his tall height. He clung to her as one would something familiar, like a lifeline in a stormy sea.

Matsuri didn't seem to mind the other clinging to her like she were some sort of lifeline -- on the contrary, she felt needed. In all her years of being a Yaka, no one had ever clung to her like this. No one had ever acted like they depended on her, especially not after knowing her as long as Yoite had -- even if he may have not known what she was. People just... avoided the girl, usually.

"He... I took care of him before -- but he wasn't this bad!" She looked down at Yoite, and used the hand that wasn't helping to hold him up to wipe the tears from his eyes. She was almost holding him like a child -- despite how old she looked, the maturity she had gained over her centuries of living was finally cracking through for the first time. She wasn't being silly, or cracking jokes and teasing someone. She was being serious ( ... )

She had been cleaning up from cooking a large banquet at the mansion when she was flipping through the journal for the day, her eyes glancing over Yoite's entry. His words were shaky; obviously he was in great pain. She looked further and noticed Matsuri running to help him. Shit. She threw her apron off and dashed to the market, Evoker and epee both strapped in tight.

Mitsuru slided, halting herself as she nearly ran past them, a cloud of dust shooting up as she changed direction.

"Shiho! What's going on? Is everything alright?" Her hand rubbed the handle of her Evoker, hoping it would unjam long enough for her to call forth Penethselia and use Dia on the poor boy. Probably not, though. She was ready to dash to the clinic and get supplies if needed, however. At least it wasn't Apathy Syndrome.

"What should I do?"
