Tea was an essential part of his daily routine. He would take tea in the afternoon when he was finishing up the last remnants of the day's studies. Stranded in such a strange world, he longed for the routine if only to immerse himself in the familiarity.

Larsa hugged his journal self-consciously, looking around him to get his bearings. The food district had cafes and restaurants, but they seemed hardly likely to serve a decent cup of tea that required careful decanting.

As he walked onwards, he spotted a familiar face behind a window.
Master Zexion! Larsa hid his relieved smile. A teashop. If there was anyone who could judge a cup of tea it would be Zexion.

The boy entered the shop and approached him nervously.
"Would you mind if I sat with you, Master Zexion?"

Zexion started slightly at the familiar voice. "Oh? Ah, Master Solidor," he said. "No, I don't mind at all. And there's no need to call me 'master' all the time. Just Zexion will suffice."

This was a surprise, though not an unpleasant one. He hadn't expected to see the boy around. Still... there were things he had to report.

The boy took a seat opposite him. "We share a fondness for tea, I am glad." He smiled. "At least it is one constant certainty in this strange land. There is tea to be found when it is wanted."

He ordered a cup of berry tea, indulging in the sweet aroma. Larsa tried hard not to seem so relieved by their meeting again, but for all his efforts the smile was difficult to banish.

Zexion nodded. "I always take tea when I need to think. And... when I need to wake up. And when I'm not feeling well. And... ... come to think of it, there is no occasion which does not call for tea."

The smile on the boy's face confused him, slightly. Larsa was glad to see him? Zexion did not think of himself as particularly endearing.

Then again, the more allies he had...

(there was the slightest thing though that he could not shake - a ghost of a memory... of another tea shop, a very long time ago... but it was no matter at all.)

It was unusual for Near to leave his place of residence; after all, provided that he ate the bare minimum from the small hoard he had collected on his first day, he could manage to avoid it and the unfortunately necessary human contact that it would provide for a number of weeks. Unfortunately, as he discovered, without the equipment he had back home and little to no toys to occupy his time with, he wasn't immune to boredom.

The small teashop on -- Temple Street, was it-- (Near had never been very good at navigation without a map.) called to him; he had never really been a tea drinker, preferring to stick to water and an occasional carton of milk, but he had heard that L had been. The previous L had been. And if he was to succeed him, obviously assimilation of his habits was in order ( ... )

Zexion started, as he'd been trying to speak with Larsa on some sensitive topics.. He did his best to be civil, keeping his voice calm (quite simple: he merely reminded himself that he did not, in fact, actually have emotions.)
"I believe there is a small toyshop in a square just off of the docks," he said. It took him a moment, but he recalled the question from before. "You must be... N, was it?"

He blinked at the newcomer, who was surely in the very least as old as him, and offered a polite smile.
"I can only agree with Master Zexion here," Larsa explained, "since I have not been here long enough to judge for myself."

Near didn't return Larsa's smile, instead glancing at him for barely a moment before his attention returned to the table, then moved to watching the scene beyond the window. "... I see. Thank you, Zexion." he replied, a slight smirk appearing on his features, secretly glad to have been recognised. Very secretly glad. "And yes, I am N."

It's then that he does turn to the unrecognised man, looking over him, clearly examining whatever he could find out though looking at him beyond just a first glance. "Ah. And how long have you been here for?"

Mohinder stepped out on to the street, softly closing the bright red door behind him. It's not that he wasn't grateful for a nice hot shower and a change of clothes - he most certainly was - it was just... walking always helped him to clear his head. Walking alone, that is. He started off down Temple Street, trying to take in everything around him but finding it difficult. It's hard to be a casual observer when your mind is racing around other things ( ... )
