WHO: Hiruma, Claire, Batman and Musashi if (s)he wants to join. WHAT: Hiruma and Claire are cursed, Batman wants to see what he can do. WHERE: House #7 WHEN: Will get date later
They just couldn't seem to have anything nice in this place.
It has just been supposed to be a fun sort of excursion. Now she didn't even know whether there was a reversal for this goddamn curse, let alone in time for...
Goddammit.
She couldn't even properly drink anything from a glass. Having given it twelve tries, she finally gave up and went into the backyard where Hiruma was, sitting down beside him and looking... maybe a bit pathetic as she leaned against his front.
"Please quit thinking the fact that... I'm like this... is your fault. It's my fault for having wanted to go along in the first place."
It wasn't long after the journal conversation that Clark arrived. Something bad had happened to Claire and the others, out on that island. Something had cursed them all, apparently in an individual way. It almost made him wonder just how much whatever forces there were out there knew about the non-native inhabitants of Rivelata.
But he'd try to piece together that information later-- and make a note to himself never to let Hiruma and Claire, or anyone else under his protection, pull a crazy stunt like this without him there with them again.
Reaching up to knock on the door, Clark was already fairly certain why Hiruma and Claire believed the stone wouldn't work. But he wanted to try anyway... and to see the damage wrought.
Hiruma cast a sad glance over at Claire. Of course it was his fault. It was all his fault, if he hadn't been so curious and underprepared and everything...
He didn't really have time to answer her, though. His ear twitched at the sound of the knock and of course, Cerberos' violent barking that always followed knocks. He picked up his chalkboard and scribbled a quick note.
'I wish Cerberos could unlock the door but he can't.'
Erase.
'Someone with thumbs has to go do it.'
He knew Claire wouldn't want to go answer the door, but they didn't have much of a choice. He had no clue where Musashi was, or if he could even hear the door.
Claire looked just as sad as he did. She felt... ugly. Downright hideous. It was awful, and horrible, and nothing felt right, not even cuddling up next to Hiruma, because Lizard skin felt really weird against fur, and--
God, she couldn't hate this any more than she did.
She knew she'd be the one to have to go, and, nodding feebly, she got up, running a fucked up hand through hair at the top of his head-- honestly, she could just break down and cry-- walking over to the door to open it.
She looked an ironic mess, really. "Just come in. He's in the backyard, he doesn't fit into the house," she said, her words sounding funny.
This fucking tongue.
Wordlessly, she kept walking outside, taking a seat once again to lean against Hiruma. She looked somewhat... defeated, as sad as that was.
No particular surprise showed in Bruce's face as he saw Claire. In truth, he had been expecting some kind of physical change from both of them, given the way they were writing. He slipped in as quickly as he could, knowing from the journals just how badly she didn't want to be seen like this. Given she was a teenage girl who obviously cared about her appearance... he couldn't blame her
