Vossler still stared over his opened journal, minutes after Basch responded-- telling him he was coming. His initial instinct was to flee the area and keep away from the blond, and instead look for ways to return home. If his magick was of no use here, then certainly the teleport stones were unusable as well. Just his luck ( ... )

Luckily there was no sign of snakes about the docks, the guards here must have been doing a good enough job keeping the place clean. There were certainly plenty of dead ones about, their carcasses littering the ground, the smell nothing pleasant.

Basch felt eyes on him, and turned, looking back. Eyes widening just slightly, he met Vossler's gaze. As he had presumed, his old comrade did not look pleased to see him at all. He made no motion to move, as Vossler was coming to him.

"Vossler," he spoke, when the brunette was close enough, "Still your anger a moment, let me speak." he was not here to fight with him, Basch wanted to help him, not hurt him. Fighting him was the last thing on his mind. Still, his own hand sat on the hilt of his blade, as he had to be ready.

Pausing his steps a moment as Basch spoke, Vossler's fists suddenly clenched. "Calm myself?" he interrupted in practically a growl. "Your presence is doing nothing but infuriate me. Why are you alive? Why are you not dead as you should be?!" Gritting his teeth, the knight's hand moved to clasp around the hilt of his sword, taking half a step back to his battle-stance. "I told you to stay away, I will not warn you again--" hand shaking, his sword was unsheathed.

Why was he hesitating like this? Surely, Vossler bore no capacity for pity or mercy. "Leave, Basch!"

When the heavy blade was leveled at him, Basch knew he would need to speak quickly or fear it being swung at him. As much as he was a great fighter, and was hardly weak, Vossler had always had more strength than him. Obvious in his ability to easily wield the giant sword that was his signature weapon.

More in reflex, Basch's hand curled around the hilt of his own sword, ready to unsheath it if need be, "I was never of the dead. Though I may as well have been. Vayne had Ondore tell the lie of my demise at the Empire's hands, but twas not truth. They kept me in Nalbina's belly these past two years." Basch knew it would not be easy to convince Vossler, he was not easy to trust after all.

"The King's murder at my hands was a set up, Vossler! Twas not I who wielded the blade that took our king's life, but another with my face."
