Now that she was here, however, she was at a complete loss for what to say. She hated strange, awkward situations like this. The last thing she remembered from her world -- their world -- was screaming at him in the car. She was bleeding, feeling faint, and finally lost consciousness. She was sure she had died, until she woke up on the boat. And those cutting words she'd uttered: 'I hunt down and kill your kind...' Why would he possibly want to see her ( ... )

How much did she know? That, of course, was the most pressing question. The next being, would she really listen if he tried to fill her in on everything? He looked up again and met her eyes, confusion lacing his own features.
Michael nodded at her words. They did need to talk. They needed to fill in all the corresponding blanks, but where did they even start?
"Right here?" He asked. Privacy had seemed like something Selene had valued or at least the one he had known. Plus, the snakes would prove to be a problem.

It was a relatively short trip down the main roads on any normal day, but the attack was proving to be quite an issue. Selene knew the city well, having wandered and patrolled every back street and alley on a nearly-nightly basis since she arrived. It was by no means the fastest route, but it was certainly the safest at this point. From what Selene had seen, there was no way most of those snakes were small enough or dexterous enough to fit down any of the seedy alleys. In all, the usual 10-minute walk took a very winding, roundabout half-hour to complete.
When they arrived, Selene showed Michael quickly up the front steps and into her home before they were spotted by one of the flying snakes. Her home was small, but very nicely-appointed and rather cozy. Most of the acquisitions contained here came from the days when life in Rivelata was still free. Selene was one of the few smart enough to realize ( ... )

He stared back at her when she spoke, uncertain. He bit his lower lip, before releasing it. What did it make them? It wasn't something they had ever had a chance to talk about. Michael seemed thoughtful on the matter. "I .. I'm not really sure what that makes us." They had kissed, hadn't they? Even still, he had never been very good with these things.
"We hadn't talked about." He admitted. Had they really needed to though? They both felt it.

But he seemed so unsure of himself, and that if nothing else was what made her wary. She settled back against the cushions, sighing quietly. Where was she supposed to go from here? What was she supposed to do with him? She couldn't just send him out on the streets, not with their history... even if she hadn't been a part of most of it.
"Well, what do you want to do?" Selene asked at last, gaze flickering back up to him. "You're perfectly welcome to stay here if you like. My roommate seems to have disappeared without a trace, so I have an extra room..."

Then dry, polite knocking came from the front door, followed, after a short span of silence, by the knob turning, and measured steps of steel-shod military-issue boots resonating in the hall.
Jade shook a snake eyeball off his sleeve, his face a thundercloud, as chunks of charred flesh seemed to rain from the sky in the street behind him. He looked down and noticed he was tracking blood into the house -Natalia would have his head for this- but decided not to worry about it. Vampires weren't as squeamish about blood as young, blonde, princesses.
"Selene, I encountered a few... difficulties... on the way", he called out, "Nothing that couldn't be resolved, of course. But it did make quite a mess in front of your house ( ... )

Jade was tall and imposing as ever, and she knew it was him even with that heavy cloak he wore. Even if she hadn't seen him for a while, she recognized that demeanor almost immediately. Augh, but he was tracking blood all over her beautiful wood floors. She may not have been squeamish about blood and gore, but she still didn't care for it getting tracked all over her home.
She sighed heavily, hanging her head into her hands for a moment. She pushed herself up from the couch, wrinkling her nose as she unclasped the cloak from around his neck and tossed it back out onto the porch before closing the door behind him.
"Just... don't step on the carpet," she chided, motioning over to Michael. "Jade, this is Michael. He's... from my home. Michael, this is Jade."
