He stared back at her when she spoke, uncertain. He bit his lower lip, before releasing it. What did it make them? It wasn't something they had ever had a chance to talk about. Michael seemed thoughtful on the matter. "I .. I'm not really sure what that makes us." They had kissed, hadn't they? Even still, he had never been very good with these things.
"We hadn't talked about." He admitted. Had they really needed to though? They both felt it.

But he seemed so unsure of himself, and that if nothing else was what made her wary. She settled back against the cushions, sighing quietly. Where was she supposed to go from here? What was she supposed to do with him? She couldn't just send him out on the streets, not with their history... even if she hadn't been a part of most of it.
"Well, what do you want to do?" Selene asked at last, gaze flickering back up to him. "You're perfectly welcome to stay here if you like. My roommate seems to have disappeared without a trace, so I have an extra room..."

Then dry, polite knocking came from the front door, followed, after a short span of silence, by the knob turning, and measured steps of steel-shod military-issue boots resonating in the hall.
Jade shook a snake eyeball off his sleeve, his face a thundercloud, as chunks of charred flesh seemed to rain from the sky in the street behind him. He looked down and noticed he was tracking blood into the house -Natalia would have his head for this- but decided not to worry about it. Vampires weren't as squeamish about blood as young, blonde, princesses.
"Selene, I encountered a few... difficulties... on the way", he called out, "Nothing that couldn't be resolved, of course. But it did make quite a mess in front of your house ( ... )

Jade was tall and imposing as ever, and she knew it was him even with that heavy cloak he wore. Even if she hadn't seen him for a while, she recognized that demeanor almost immediately. Augh, but he was tracking blood all over her beautiful wood floors. She may not have been squeamish about blood and gore, but she still didn't care for it getting tracked all over her home.
She sighed heavily, hanging her head into her hands for a moment. She pushed herself up from the couch, wrinkling her nose as she unclasped the cloak from around his neck and tossed it back out onto the porch before closing the door behind him.
"Just... don't step on the carpet," she chided, motioning over to Michael. "Jade, this is Michael. He's... from my home. Michael, this is Jade."

He was still standing by the time the other male had entered and announced himself. The urge to step in front of her, to protect, even if it wasn't needed was calling out to him. He ignored it as best he could. Blue eyes studied the stranger and his nostrils flared at the smell of blood. The part that still held onto his human memories was squeamish about that but the animalistic side was hungry.
Michael offered a smile in greeting, since he wasn't much of a waving kind of guy. It would have to do.

"So..." he drawled, his pupils narrowing as he turned his crimson eyes to the man on the couch -to Michael-, "This is the pretty boy who is trying to horn in on my woman?"

She crossed her arms over her chest, her annoyance clearly apparent as she narrowed gradually lightening eyes up to Jade, quirking a brow slowly. He was obviously unaware that he had stepped into a somewhat delicate conversation, but that was still no excuse for such behavior.
"Excuse me?" She snapped. "Your woman? Exactly what gave you that impression?"

It was a little hard to believe it, especially with what they had been talking about prior to this ma Jade's arrival. He was a second away from an outburst, except Selene beat him to the punch.
He glanced between them, waiting for answers. It wasn't his conversation.

"Now that's better", he stated, as crimson met blue, "The childlike look of uncertainty I saw on your features when you opened the door does not become you at all."
"You... are a lioness. Make no mistakes, I would have never agreed to our little 'arrangement' if you were anything but. Lambs are not for the likes of us."

Well, if they decided they wanted to get into a pissing contest over something this stupid, she at least wanted to have a good view.
"Lambs or no, I think I have every right to be a bit distraught at the moment."

He pushed stray strands of caramel hair behind his ear and leaned forward, closer to Selene, before adding, his voice lowered: "I hate to admit it, but I also spent part of that time with my internal organs on display for all to see". Jade's face twitched as he recalled the pain of Van Grants's sword embedding itself in his middle. "From what I was told, I was hardly a brilliant conversationist then, so you did not miss much."
He then straightened, and flashed a predatory smile. "I'm not yet back in top physical form, alas, but my wit is as sharp as ever."
