[Open to all after Kurama and Sora] 8sins March 12 2008, 19:24:48 UTC
Hakkai came to first, cold, wet, and dizzy. The back of his head stung from where the spear had hit it and dirt and blood had ruined the suit he'd worn to the ball.

Ball. Right. As he scanned the dozen or so people who'd been captured with him, he couldn't see either Sora or Kurama. It was too dark in the cell... or wherever he was.

He couldn't even summon any chi if he tried.

Kurama swam slowly back into consciousness, and it was only years of battle-training that let him keep his breathing steady, his pulse slow, as he tried to figure out just where he'd been taken.

The floor under him was cold, hard - probably stone. The air was cool, moist, and he could hear the steady flow of water from somewhere not too far away. Cave, most likely.

There were several different breathing patterns around him, all slow and steady - unconscious, if his own hazy state was any indication.

All right, he thought, still careful to feign sleep. Now how do I find Sora and Hakkai?

Hakkai's eyes were adjusting to the dark now and he spotted Kurama soon after. The bright red hair was a blessing in situations like these.

They were on opposite sides of the cell and Kurama still looked to be asleep. Hakkai could smell something - blood - and prayed that it didn't belong to his partner.

He moved very slowly, deliberately, in case there was a guard. Moving could also cause a panic among the other hostages. "Ku-" he started, and then realized how stupid he was being.

"Shuuichi-san?"

He tensed slightly as Hakkai began speaking, then relaxed again as the other youkai corrected himself. Good - there were enough problems without having to explain why he'd been going by another name.

He made a show of fluttering his eyelashes, moaning softly in pain, and coming back to consciousness. As he allowed his eyes to open, he cursed inwardly - his human eyes weren't meant for this kind of light. Or, lack thereof.

He sat up slowly, touching gentle fingers to the back of his neck - they came away bloody, but not too badly. Nothing he hadn't lived through before.

"Hakkai-san," he acknowledged, the honorific feeling strange on his tongue after everything. "Where's Sora?"

Open to Anyone, but mostly Rhode. dame_tsuna March 12 2008, 20:12:22 UTC
It was when Tsuna had gone over to Rhode to see how was she when he was hit from behind, and dragged away. His friends didn't see the attack and didn't know Tsuna was gone.

He awoke with a throbbing headache, his plain mittens on his hands, his body covered in dirt. His whole body hurt as if he'd been beaten for days. He just laid on the ground, grunting in pain when he tried to move. But then he remembered Rhode, with the bullet wound to the head.

As soon as he thought of the young girl shot, he jumped to his feet, dealing with the pain it caused him.

"Ara? What's going on? Where am I?" he said to himself mostly, taking in toe situation. People around him all looked pretty beat up, there was water, a crystal...and Rhode!

He saw her across the room and sprinted her to, dropping to one knee.

"Rhode-san! Are you okay? Speak to me!" he was really worried, and tried to shake her a bit.

The first thing she noticed when the noise drew her up from unconsciousness was the horrible taste in her mouth- A nasty taste, and the chill. Rhode swallowed harshly at the ache of awakening, opening her eyes to more darkness- A red hue to it, though. Weird ( ... )

When the girl tried to sit up, Tsuna pushed her back down gently, he didn't want her to hurt herself even more.

"You shouldn't get up you're really hurt!" Tsuna said, worrying over this girl who tried to hurt him just days earlier.

Her face was a mess, blood dried everywhere, not to mention the swelling. He felt horrible, hoping there was a way he could help her.

"T-That red haired guy shot you," he explained, not sure exactly how to phrase it. "I went to help you but I got knocked out and we all ended up here."

Rhode didn't put up a fuss at being told what to do, for once. It hurt too badly to really start something.

"I know, I know..." A soft sigh, closing her eyes to try and not concentrate on the giant throbbing pain that was the right side of her face. "He only hit because he had a gun."

She would have killed the General anyways, if she had the chance or means.

"Where are we...?"

She had gone to the powder room to recompose herself, collect her thoughts, and check the status of writers and their entries in the journal she had brought, tucked discreetly within a pocket made in the folds of her skirt. It had taken her a bit longer than she had anticipated, on each account. The ball had been, for all intents and purposes, quite wonderful. Teaching someone how to dance, and watching them dance in turn, was an altogether rewarding experience. But when she had danced with Cain, the steps were sure, fluid, and the ballroom floor seemed to barely touch her feet. It was a strange experience. And his smile was so gentle that she could not help but to return it. But she felt so guilty afterwards ( ... )

Rikku wandered close to a lady with long hair. She was still lying on the ground, but Rikku could have sworn she'd seen the woman move, though, and thought she might be awake. Rikku hoped she wasn't seriously hurt, and crouched down beside her. She must have made quite the sight, with her skirt tied and bunched nearly to her knees to reveal her wandering around in just her stockings.

"Are you okay," Rikku asked, reaching out to touch the women. A lot of people didn't like to be touched, and this was a perfect stranger, but neither thought occurred to Rikku. "Do you need help getting up?"

There were voices echoing from each shadow of the room, some more clear than others. It wasn't until one of those came forward to be distinguished as speaking directly to her that Rosa realized she was indeed awake. The touch that came on her shoulder reaffirmed that.

"I will be fine, thank you," Rosa found her voice in order to reply. Both her hands moved to gently wrap the one which had reached out for her, it's presence alone helping to guide her to sit upright. She did so slowly, careful to balance the precarious pain that resided at the nape of her neck. The memory and situation trickled back to her, as if carried by the flow of the waterfall. "And you? Do you have any injuries?"

She could feel no connection to her white magic. Even less than before, in its weakened state. But it didn't stop her from worrying about the other woman, or any of the people there for that matter. And it wouldn't stop her from trying.

Rikku smiled to herself, even though she was pretty sure her companion probably couldn't make out her expression. Rikku's eyes were still adjusting to the dim, almost maroon glow in the room. "My name's Rikku--and I'm okay. Just a bump on my head, but I've had lots worse," she reassured the other woman. She was quickly beginning to regard the other woman as a friend, even though they didn't know each other at all. It was probably partly caused by her own natural quickness to affection, and partially desperation due to their situation: after all, it's almost always easier to face the unknown when you know you have someone you can count on ( ... )

Well, great. Now he was in a cave.

He'd had worse, and he was trained, but the cave gave him no range for the longbow and also, that little girl had bitten him. He didn't like little girls, and he didn't like being bitten by them. Or anyone else, for that matter.

It was his shift. He was awake. The cave was damp. Old wounds hurt in a wet, cool place like this, not necessarily war wounds, but the casualties of constant training, a life spent under the heavy palm of duty. It was like always waiting for the rain to fall.

His face was a sharp network of angry lines, brow knit together, green eyes mean.

He'd never looked like his brother--they had the same color hair, and the same color eyes, but that was all they shared beside a father and a mother. If anything, they'd both always assumed Valery would be the first to die ( ... )

Kurama eyed the guard warily, holding Sora protectively against him. This was looking more and more like a very bad idea, but Sora needed something to drink, at least. If Kurama only had his plants...

But, of course, that was a lie. What good would his plants have done him without any youki to feed them with? This was his only option, but something about this felt like it would only end in disaster.

He had to try. He'd sworn to look out for Sora, and so far, he was failing rather miserably.

So he stepped as close to the bars as he dared, and spoke.

"Please," he asked softly, "could we get some water. His throat..." he explained, glancing down at Sora. "He's in pain."

Sora knew how to look worse off than he really was. And if this guard was anything like - or was - the guard who had yelled on the way here, maybe he'd respond better if Sora looked completely pitiful. In general, if a person looked pitiful beyond pitiful, people couldn't be too angry. Unless they were complete jerkybeanie leaflickers.

Being pitiful still wouldn't hurt any, so Sora swallowed and manged to produce a rather nasty sounding cough. He just hoped Kurama wouldn't drop him. Or mind that Sora-germs were now all over his shirt.

Hakkai had faded for a minute. His head hurt worse than he'd originally thought, and by the time he came to again, Kurama was over by the entrance to the cave(?) they were in, Sora on his back.

He lurched to his feet, swaying unsteadily. As best he could, he followed after Kurama, just in time to hear the guard's reply.

Rikku woke up slowly to a number of aches and pains, the worst of which was somewhere in the back of her head. She blinked her eyes, rolled over, and realized she was not in her bed, or in her house, or in fact--anywhere she recognized. Rikku sat up--too fast; the blood rushed from her head and the pounding sensation got worse. "Owie..." Rikku felt the back of her head, tentatively exploring her scalp with her fingers. Yup, there was a good sized lump alright. Rikku couldn't remember it, but she had to assume that somewhere along the way in that scuffle she'd gotten knocked out. Wonder if Axel managed to get away, she wondered to herself as she carefully stretched her body and catalogued her small cuts and bruises. Rikku grumbled to herself faintly in Al Bhed and took her hair out of its constrictive ponytail. It didn't make the pain go away completely, but it was something, at least ( ... )
