She was here. She was finally here after weeks, months of having disappeared, of having worried Komui Lee to the brink of death. Linali was his life, the reason he had joined the Black Order, the reason he became a man of science in order to be near her at all times, protect her. To have her be snatched away by the monsters of the island then brought back whole, new, different - it was intoxicating. A part of him wanted to cry on hands and knees, a part of him wanted to leap for joy. Was this a good thing? Linali's return to a strange place ( ... )

He saw Komui approaching the docks at roughly the same time, and caught up with the other man easily enough. He bobbed his head a little in greeting, and kept pace.

"So, Linali has been here before, and this is a new version?" he asked softly, after Komui had recognized his existence. "Do you think she'll be all right after everything the others were saying?"

There. Right there. Her brother, in his ridiculous beret that he always wore, stood out amongst the crowd. And then, a boy with flaming red hair stepped beside him. Lavi. Her smile grew, her heart soared- it was so good just to see her friends again. Alive and well. Perhaps this was heaven, after all. Or it was, in her mind, at least.

Pain in her legs be damned, she wanted to see them.

The ramp that connected the boat and the docks fell, and Linali felt herself taking off at a run. Her legs shook, pain shooting up them from exertion, her muscles screaming at her in indignation. But really, all Linali could see were the two men (well, Lavi was a boy, right?) in front of her ( ... )

A short red head soon caught up with him, and Komui recognized the young man as Lavi, Bookman's apprentice. He smiled, nodding his head in response, and walked at a slower pace with the boy. Started up conversation on another version of Linali, and frankly, he was not too keen on thinking that an older version died - or worse. He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"It appears that way. Don't worry, I'll handle Linali," He replied, still looking around for the sight of his baby sister, wondering if she was here, honest-to-God here, and it wasn't an illusion, a dream, an impostor.

And through the crowd, through the noise, a little girl came running at Lavi first, crying, saying things, and Komui recognize Linali. Linali with short hair, new clothes, without her boots.

It was...it was too good to be true.

Weeping, he pulled Linali into his own version of a bone-crushing hug, not saying a word, just wrapping his arms around her small shoulders, and never wanting to let her out of his sight again.

It hadn’t occurred to Miranda just yet that people were going to go and meet Linali - to get her back from the docks. She hadn’t found out by anyone telling her, no, not at all. She’d read it herself in the responses to Linali’s post. She was slightly afraid that perhaps this was none of her business, but the younger girl was her friend. Surely no one would mind if she simply turned up to lend a hand and give some assistance, right? Of course not ( ... )
